PICASSO CONTOUR DRAWINGObjective: to learn about contour (line) drawings done by famous artists, with an emphasis on the drawing of Igor Stravinsky by Pablo Picasso, to use the Stravinsky drawing as a reference and recreate it as accurately as possible from observation.Time frame: 1-2 class timesMaterials: 9x12 white paper, pencils, Stravinsky imageStandards: ART.VA.I.HS.1, ART.VA.I.HS.3, ART.VA.I.HS.5, ART.VA.II.HS.1, ART.VA.II.HS.2, ART.VA.II.HS.3, ART.VA.II.HS.4, ART.VA.III.HS.1Procedures: On 9x12 white paper, students will create their own version of the contour drawing of Igor Stravinsky by Pablo Picasso. Students will do their best to recreate their drawings through observation, breaking down the image into sections and focusing on the shape and form of the lines, starting with the form of the head, the shoulders and arms, body, and then finally the lower section with the legs and parts of the chair.
