Make a Match Group Game

Get your group mingling to find their famous match with this fun icebreaker group game.

What you'll need: Name tags with names already written/printed on them

Instructions: Beforehand, write or print out the name of one half of the famous couple on one nametag, and the other name on another name tag. So in our example, one name tag will read "Antony" and one tag will read "Cleopatra," or one will read "Fred Astair" and the match will read "Ginger Rogers."

To play the icebreaker hand out name tags to everyone, trying to give real couples or friends different pairs so they'll meet new people. Give the group at least 20-30 minutes to walk around and talk to each other and find the match for their famous persona.

Variations: To encourage more mingling you can instruct each person to not wear their name tag, and instead go around asking questions like "Are you from Egypt?" or "Have you appeared on the silver screen?" to find their match. In this version, once they have found their match then they are allowed to wear their nametags.

This is also a good way to randomly assign small groups. Have name tags ready to go with the names of famous group members such as the Beatles (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Star) or the astronauts on the Apollo 11 mission (Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins).
