Northern Renaissance Webquest

Northern Renaissance Webquest

What was the Northern Renaissance? Artists from all over Europe visited Italy during the Renaissance. Gradually, they returned to their homelands determined to implement the lessons of the great Italian artists into their own work. In countries such as the Netherlands, Belgium and the Germanic states Renaissance influenced art began appearing throughout the 14th, 15th and 16th centuries. However, because these artists originated from Northern Europe their art reflects their own culture as well as the ideals and influences of the Renaissance. The five most famous Northern Renaissance artists are Albrect Durer, Jan Van Eyck, Pieter Bruegel, Peter Paul Reubens and Johannes Vermeer
