Group: HelvellynDate: 29th June – Week 5Subject: Art and DesignLearning Outcome: To understand the term perspective.To develop and apply understanding of 1-point perspective drawing.To build on prior knowledge of 3D forms, control of line, showing perseverance and resilience.Learning Task: Perspective is the technique for representing three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional (flat) surface.We are spending a lot of time at home in order to stay safe. For this week’s tasks I would like you to pick a room in your home that you spend a lot of time in, as lots of artist have created pieces inspired by rooms.FIRST – Look at the two links below. The first one explores some famous paintings and what they would look like as real rooms, they give us a glimpse into history and how people used to live. NEXT – Choose the room you want to draw, this may or may not be your bedroom. It is really important that you sit in this room when you are drawing and look closely at angles and details. Make sure your piece of paper is in a landscape position, you could cut it into a square if you wish, but it is not necessary. You can use A3 or A4 paper. Ensure your pencil is sharp and that you have a ruler. THEN – Draw your chosen room, remember to show resilience and that it is ok if it doesn’t go to plan. It is really important that you sit in this room when you are drawing and look closely at what you are drawing (observation). Below are some simple visual steps to help guide you, along with the video. FINALLY – You may wish to add colour, using a media of your choice. However, you can leave it as a detailed line drawing if you prefer. Take a photograph of your finished piece and send it to Miss Gay.Key questions: What is the definition of perspective in art? What does the term vanishing point mean? What are vertical, horizontal and parallel? What things did you find challenging about this drawing and how did you overcome it?
