Percy Jackson and the Olympians

Author: Rick Riordan

This is a five book series with a main character named Percy Jackson. When Percy witnesses his 6th grade math teacher turn into a monster, he figures out that the creatures from Greek mythology really do exist. He’s taken to a mysterious camp, and fights in many fast-paced battles throughout the series. I like it because it takes place in modern times, and is very humorous, as well as being action-packed and exciting.

I recommend these books for 4th and 5th graders who like fiction, fantasy, and adventure.

Book 1: The Lightning Thief

Book 2: The Sea of Monsters

Book 3: The Titans Curse

Book 4: The Battle of the Labyrinth

Book 5: The Last Olympian

How to Take Care of a Cat

By Audrey Battiste

If you want a cat first you ask your parents. Before you get a cat you should have: kitty litter, a scratching post is nice, you might want some toys and you should ask your vet or local pet store what food you should use. After you get your cat: If your cat has not gotten shots you should get them. If your cat goes outside you should get them in at night. And don’t forget to give your pets love and care!

The Oh-So Threatening String

Fiction By Irene Stoutland

Once upon a time in the land of the flowers everything was peaceful. But one day something happened that would change everything. The string came. It slid through the rows of zinneas and marigolds with its slithery body and fast-moving tail extremely threatening until…the very heroic Fluffy the kitty cat came to the rescue! She attacked it and slashed at it and made it go away. She scared it so much that it never came back again. The flowers were very surprised when Fluffy told them that the string only moved when a person held it and the only way to get it to go away was to claw and bite the hand. Everyone wondered why.

My Adventures with Caleb and Evan

By Tommy Gallagher

One day we went to Caleb’s house and we went to go sell golf balls. So we dirt biked to the golf course well, almost to the golf course but we had to walk up a hill. Then we sat in the grass by the golf course. We sold about 10 to 15 golf balls.

Winter came two months later we went snowmobiling for about two hours. Then we went inside Caleb’s house and watched t.v. We were watching the Vikings game. The Vikings were losing 13-7 so we thought the Vikings were going to lose because the other team had the ball and they were up six points. There were about 44 seconds left in the game BUT THEN THE OTHER TEAM FUMBLED THE BALL!!!!! We all yelled ‘GET IT!!!’’ the Vikings got the ball we all said in happiness. So the Vikings had the ball. Then they said ‘hike!!!’’ and the Q.B. threw the ball to Rice. Touch down!!! The game is tied 13-13 but it was up to the kicker. IT’S GOOD!!!!!!!! We all shouted. The game in over the Vikings won!!!! We said.

After the game we went up stars and we ate dinner. Then we went snowmobiling again for about a hour. After snowmobiling it was about 7:00 p.m. At about 7:30 p.m. Evan’s mom came to get him. My mom came to get me at about 8:00 p.m. and I said good bye.
