STUDENT CLUBS 2008-2009

Chattahoochee Elementary faculty and staff offer fourth and fifth graders the opportunity to participate in several before-school clubs. All clubs will meet from 7:05-7:45 a.m. on the days listed on the charts below. Students who participate in Student Council, Safety Patrol or the School Store may also be a member of a club. Membership in a club will be determined on a “first-come, fist served” basis, in hopes that everyone who is interested in a club will be placed in at least one club of their choice.

Students must maintain an S or E in conduct and Special Areas to be a part of any club. They must also be regular in attendance. Students may not change clubs. However, they may register for more than one club. Descriptions of the clubs are below.

Please direct any questions to Mrs. Buchanan or Mrs. Collins, co-chairs of the Club Committee.

All members will be learning new problem solving skills and will have the opportunity to play chess with new friends.

[pic] Chorus Club allows fourth and fifth grade students to experience the pleasure and enjoyment of music while at the same time making them aware of a quality sound and performance. The Chorus represents Chattahoochee Elementary School not only in performances at school, but also in the community. Club members are asked to make the commitment to attend rehearsals before school, to learn the music, and to be present for all performances. Parents are asked to provide transportation to rehearsals and performances and to provide a chorus uniform or costume.

Get your strong leads ready! We want to hear your story!

OTHER STUDENT ACTIVITIES

Safety Patrol

5th grade teachers recommend students to participate in safety patrol based on grades, behavior, and level of responsibility. Patrols report to positions during arrival and dismissal of student body and are responsible for assisting in the monitoring of hallways, stairwells, bus lanes, and car drop off areas. Once recommended, students can remain on safety patrol throughout their 5th grade year.

When a student is selected to be a safety patrol member, he/she will need to have before and after school transportation arranged.

Student Council

The Chattahoochee Student Council consists of active and involved fourth and fifth grade students. Its mission is to help both the school and community through service work, and to provide leadership experience and in the process a working knowledge of government. A few of its ongoing projects are tutoring ESOL students, manning the School Store, and raising funds for worthy causes through an annual Used Book Sale.

The Student Council members are chosen through an application and

interview process during the month of May for the following year. The

Student Council Advisory Committee looks for student leaders to represent the entire student body.
