Judging: 8:00am-1:00pm

Style Show:

Doors will open for those dressing at Spurgeon 2:30pm

All participants must be dressed and ready to practice 3:00pm

Public Style Show for family & friends 3:30pm

(Refreshments will be served after the show)

General Rules:

1. Participants must be a member of the Dallas County 4-H Program by May 15, 2019.

2. DEADLINE for participation is Wednesday, June 26. Please notify Carolyn Wilson(cjwilson515@ or 229-1391) to pre-register and schedule a time to meet with the judge. We hope this process will help streamline our judging process and minimize your waiting time.

3. Each exhibitor is limited to one entry in each of the three divisions:

Fashion Revue, Clothing Selection and $15 Challenge.

4. Each participant must provide the following for each division he/she

is participating in. These should be turned in at the registration table the day of the event:

a. Clothing Event Report Form

b. Color Photograph of the 4-H’er wearing his/her garment

5. A Style Show Commentary Form for each outfit modeled is due June 27—and should be emailed to Carolyn Wilson at cjwilson515@

6. Judging will take place Saturday, June 29 beginning at 8:00 am at Spurgeon Manor. Entrants will meet with a judge for approximately 5-7 minutes for each category they enter. All entrants will also model in a public Style Show that afternoon.

7. Senior 4-H’ers must participate in both phases of the event, the morning judging and afternoon Style Show, to receive ribbons, recognition and to advance to the state level.

8. Dallas County may advance the top female, male and minority entrants from the senior age division (Grade 9-12) to the State Awardrobe Event. Three for Clothing Selection & $15 Challenge and four for Fashion Revue.

9. Senior 4-H’ers may participate in only ONE area at the State Awardrobe Event each year (i.e., Clothing Selection or Fashion Revue or $15 Challenge)—but may participate at the State event more than once in the same category during their 4-H career.

10. Outfits or accessories which will be worn during the Clothing Event Day MAY be entered as a project at the Dallas County Fair. PLEASE NOTE: Seniors who have been chosen to represent Dallas County in the State Awardrobe Clothing Event, CANNOT use the same outfit/accessories in both the Awardrobe Event and 4-H State Fair exhibit.

11. Participants will be evaluated as follows:

a. The individual’s communication skills, poise and confidence as they model their outfit, answers given on Clothing Event Form, and interview with the judge

b. The total look of the outfit & accessories, the individual’s posture & grooming, and self-confidence while wearing the outfit

c. The individual’s knowledge of clothing such as quality construction, fiber content, care and fashion trends, etc.

d. Decision making skills when purchasing or constructing the garment (i.e., cost, durability, quality, style, fabric content, care, fit, goal clearly identified, etc.)

FASHION REVUE:

1. 4-H’er must be enrolled in the 4-H Clothing Project in the current 4-H program year.

2. Garments must be constructed, hand-knitted, machine-knitted or crocheted by the 4-H’er during the current 4-H year.

3. Not all clothing has to be made/constructed. For example, it is acceptable to purchase a blouse or sweater to wear with a pair of slacks or skirt that has been constructed.

4. All other accessories and undergarments may be constructed or purchased.

5. The same constructed garment may also be entered as a separate project exhibit at the Dallas County Fair provided the 4-H member is enrolled in the Clothing Project.

CLOTHING SELECTION:

1. 4-H’er does not need to be enrolled in the 4-H Clothing Project to participate in Clothing Selection.

2. The outfit selected must be PURCHASED (not constructed), since the purpose of this category is to help youth develop skills in buying clothing for a particular purpose or event.

3. Outfits may be purchased from any source, including consignment shops, clothing stores, etc. and may be new or used. Gifts of clothing either new or used, are not eligible.

4. The same outfit may also be entered as a separate project exhibit at the Dallas County Fair if the 4-H’er is enrolled in the Clothing Project.

$15 CHALLENGE:

1. 4-H’er does not need to be enrolled in the 4-H Clothing Project to participate in the $15 Challenge.

2. An outfit consists of a top and bottom.

3. Outfits MUST be purchased at a garage sale, consignment store, or resale shop (i.e., Goodwill, Salvation Army, DAV, or other stores of this type).

4. The total cost of the outfit must be $15 or less (including tax), not including shoes, accessories or undergarments.

5. A receipt MUST be included with Clothing Event Form. (A garage sale receipt might be a piece of paper that has the name of the place, such as “Jane Doe garage sale”, date, amount paid, and signature of person selling at the garage sale.) If garments in the outfit were purchased at more than one location, more than one receipt should be included. Failure to provide receipt(s) or sales slip(s) will result in the loss of points.

6. The same outfit may also be entered as a separate project exhibit at the Dallas County Fair if the 4-H’er is enrolled in the Clothing Project.
