Adolph & Rose Levis Jewish Community Center, Inc.

Arts, Culture and Learning at the Levis JCC Sandler Center

Award Amount: $93,274.00

The Levis JCC’s Phyllis & Harvey Sandler Center offers more than 100 entertaining, stimulating and enriching life-long learning experiences to adults of all ages via live theater, literary programs, adult university lectures, courses, cultural events, art exhibits and the Judy Levis Markhoff Boca Raton Jewish Film Festival attractive to adults over 50. Membership is not required for participation. The Levis JCC embraces all individuals without regard to race, color, gender, sexual orientation, religion, disability, or national origin.

Category B Tourist funds are used to support Levis JCC Sandler Center marketing resources, retaining the Buzz Agency for outside Public Relations, engaging in paid advertising and marketing campaigns to attract visitors and tourists to Palm Beach County. Funds also support artists’ fees and travel to bring quality artists such as Steven Levenson, the Tony Award Winning Playwright of Dear Evan Hansen (2019) and iconic designer Isaac Mizrahi (2019).

Boca Raton Museum of Art, Inc.

Boca Raton Museum of Art 2019-2020 Season

Award Amount: $237,301.00

The Boca Raton Museum of Art’s 2019-2020 season will feature 10-12 exhibitions that further the BRMA’s curatorial interests, promote arts and culture in our community, and enhance our community’s national and international reputation as an important arts destination. This season is especially significant, as the BRMA will be celebrating a milestone – the 70th Anniversary of our founding.

To enhance the exhibition experience, the BRMA will present an array of dynamic education, outreach, collaborative programs, and events that will benefit and attract visitors and residents to our Museum.

The BRMA will further contribute to the cultural, educational, and economic vitality of South Florida though our Art School, Artists’ Guild, and Annual Art Festival.

Grant funds will be used to support the BRMA’s marketing and public relations staff, outside marketing/PR services, other program related outside professional services, related program travel & supplies, and direct marketing expenses.

FAU Foundation Inc. / Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters

Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters Public Programs

Award Amount: $158,451.00

FAU’s Dorothy F. Schmidt College of Arts and Letters is a vibrant regional asset with a prolific schedule of public programming. More than 160 events (800+ activities) are presented annually featuring world-renowned scholars, authors, performers, artists, and distinguished filmmakers, as well as emerging talent in dedicated venues on the Boca Raton and Jupiter campuses and community settings. Attendees enjoy visiting professional, faculty and student exhibitions and performances within the Visual Arts, Theatre, Dance, Music, University Galleries, Literary events, Living Room Theaters, and more than 70 public lectures, workshops and conferences. Our location optimizes our strategic outreach to Broward and Miami-Dade patrons while conferences attract national and international participants. Grant funding enhances marketing and publicity efforts, targeting programs that attract out-of-county visitors while enhancing the quality of life for residents and visitors within our community.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center, Inc.

Loggerhead Marinelife Center

Award Amount: $245,328.00

Loggerhead Marinelife Center plans to use grant dollars to cover the costs of traditional and non-traditional marketing and advertising such as magazine advertisements, calendar listings, outside professional services, video advertisements and social media ad campaigns. The funds acquired through this grant increase out of county visitors and enable our marketing department to adequately provide LMC with substantial marketing support and high-quality materials in order to enhance our programs and increase our reach and global impact.

Loxahatchee River Historical Society, Inc.

Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum Heritage Site

Award Amount: $128,794.00

The Loxahatchee River Historical Society operates the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse & Museum, providing extensive preservation of significant historic & natural resources, interpretation of regional & Florida history, and quality educational programs for visitors of all ages & abilities. A cultural beacon of northern Palm Beach County, the Society manages the unique heritage of a 120-acre nationally designated site, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse Outstanding Natural Area, visited by over 100,000 people in 2018.

In addition to spectacular views from the top of the restored 1860 lighthouse, visitors experience a range of museum exhibits and interpreted trails - a multi-faceted and multi-layered window into 5000 years of history and nature along the scenic waterfront property.

Funds from the grant will be gratefully used to provide key marketing staff, contracted PR and social media consultants, and to promote the Lighthouse & Museum programming in print, and online/social media advertising.

Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Inc.

Maltz Jupiter Theatre 2019/20 Season

Award Amount: $244,324.00

The Maltz Jupiter Theatre is a professional, not-for-profit, regional theatre dedicated to the performing arts whose mission is to entertain, educate, and inspire our community. The 2019/20 season will include five main season productions for a total of 102 performances. The season lineup includes: The Curious Case of the Curse of Count Dracula, The Mystery of Edwin Drood, Chicago, Brighton Beach Memoirs, and How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

The 2019/20 season also includes 13 Limited Engagements for a total of 14 performances. The season line-up includes: Broadway’s Jersey Boy, John Lloyd Young, Christmas Cheer: Live from the Maltz Jupiter Theatre, Capitol Steps, Simply Streisand, Mercury, Tapestry- Carole King Tribute, Stayin’ Alive, Beach Party Boys, Cornell Gunter’s Coasters, The Celtic Tenors, Forever Tina, Let’s Hang On: Frankie Valli Tribute, and American Salute- Jeffrey Siegel.

Miami City Ballet, Inc.

Miami City Ballet in the Palm Beaches 2019/2020 Season

Award Amount: $226,263.00

A grant from the Cultural Tourism Development Fund will support Miami City Ballet in the Palm Beaches 2019/20— MCB’s 34th year as South Florida’s premier classical ballet company. MCB will continue to expand artistic offerings to engage new audiences with the commissioning of new works by acclaimed choreographers, demonstrating the genre-defining voice developed under Artistic Director Lourdes Lopez. In addition to presenting masterworks from the George Balanchine canon, MCB’s upcoming season will offer four diverse Company Premieres from beloved dance masters, like the iconic Jerome Robbins; juxtaposed by a collection of choreographic pioneers of the 21st century, including tony-award-winning choreographer, Justin Peck; and internationally-renowned choreographer, Christopher Wheeldon. Palm Beach County’s investment in Miami City Ballet—a cultural anchor in South Florida—will sustain our ability to present exceptional artistry that inspires diverse audiences from around the globe.

Norton Museum of Art, Inc.

Norton Museum of Art 2019-2020 Season

Award Amount: $246,833.00

In 2019-2020, the Norton will build on the success of its historic 2018-2019 season, in which it opened its $100 million, Foster + Partners-designed expansion to international acclaim and intense visitor interest, and welcomed a visionary new Director. The Norton will seek to maintain this momentum by presenting diverse exhibitions and programming designed to engage a broad range of audiences. Special exhibitions, both traveling and original, will complement the outstanding Museum Collection of more than 7,600 works of art. A wide array of educational programming designed for students and art lovers of all ages and backgrounds will interpret the works on view. The Museum will be free for all on Fridays and Saturdays.

Grant funding will support advertising expenses, the salaries of marketing personnel, and the hiring of a national public relations firm. Together, these efforts will promote Palm Beach County to a broad audience that includes cultural tourists from around the world.

Old School Square Center for the Arts, Inc.

Old School Square Programming 2019-20

Award Amount: $188,657.00

Old School Square is a historic cultural arts destination located in the heart of Delray Beach comprised of the Crest Theatre, Creative Art School, Cornell Art Museum, the Pavilion, and the Fieldhouse.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of performances including musicals, concerts, Broadway shows and comedy in an intimate 323-seat in our historic Crest Theatre. For those cultivating their artistic talents, the Creative Art School provides a wide array of classes and workshops in art, photography and writing for all skill levels. The newly renovated Cornell Art Museum presents contemporary art exhibitions by nationally and internationally recognized artists, juried fine art shows, and monthly art talks by renowned artists. The Pavilion is home to open-air concerts, performances, and events and the Fieldhouse hosts a wide variety of community and corporate events, parties and craft/trade shows.

Highly valued grant funds are used to underwrite performer fees and advertising/marketing expenses.

Palm Beach Dramaworks, Inc.

Palm Beach Dramaworks 2019-2020 Season

Award Amount: $199,423.00

Yearly, PBD attracts 32,000 residents and tourists to downtown West Palm Beach and is recognized for playing an important role in the cultural and economic development of our community. We continue to create opportunities for visitors to engage in thought provoking theatre experiences through professional productions of new and seldom-seen works, as well as educational programs targeted to both youth and adult students. Our productions have been hailed by critics throughout Florida, and nationally by The Wall Street Journal as one of the country's leading regional theatres.

Funding from the Cultural Tourism Development Fund will assist in expanding marketing efforts to reach new patrons, enhancing programming to attract diverse audiences, and increasing our ability to attract nationally recognized, high-profile guest artists and directors. A targeted marketing and communications plan will elevate the PBD brand on a national level for our productions and educational programming.

Palm Beach Opera, Inc.

Award Amount: $242,694.00

Funds provided by the Tourism Development Council will support Palm Beach Opera's (PBO) 19/20 season including out-of-county marketing efforts that will positively impact 32,000+ residents and visitors to PBO’s mainstage productions, and education and community engagement programs. PBO’s 18/19 programming, including programs not funded as part of this grant, engaged 30,000+ audience members.

PBO aims to fulfill its mission and promote cultural vitality in Palm Beach County by presenting high quality opera programming that enriches the cultural fabric of our community. In 19/20, PBO will grow a diverse, sustainable audience through meaningful audience development programs, strategic marketing practices, artistic training programs, and education and community engagement offerings that ensure opera is accessible for all audience members.

Palm Beach Photographic Centre, Inc.

Photography Workshops, Exhibitions and FOTOfusion Festival

Award Amount: $185,626.00

The Palm Beach Photographic Centre is one of the most unique photographic institutions in the world. The series of seminars and workshops is recognized as the best of its kind because of the quality of master artists who teach at the Centre. The Centre presents year-round exhibitions in its museum gallery, 40 master photography and digital imaging workshops, 10 museum and gallery exhibitions, 18 evening lectures and year-round community education programs. In addition, the Centre will present FOTOfusion 2020, the 25th annual internationally recognized festival of photography that attracts worldwide participation. The grant dollars will be used for the marketing, promotion, and presentation of the Photographic Centre’s programs and festival.

Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts, Inc.

Kravis Center Presentations

Award Amount: $246,833.00

A premier performing arts center in the Southeast with a growing international reputation, the Raymond F. Kravis Center for the Performing Arts is an economic catalyst and magnet for cultural tourists seeking artistic excellence. In 2017-2018, the Kravis Center welcomed more than 470,000 people to its concert halls and education programs. This proposal seeks $300,000 to sustain excellence in performing arts programming by funding touring artist fees. The Kravis Center budgets $8.974 million in outside artist fees and $1.853 million to market these artists’ performances. These touring artists have a significant economic impact: in 2017-2018 they booked 2,914 hotel rooms in Palm Beach County. The Center’s cultural tourist audiences accounted for another 13,177 rooms. The Center has also made a sustained commitment to community engagement and enrichment, and its non-grant-funded educational programs serve nearly 69,000 local young people and more than 5,700 adults each year.

South Florida Science Center and Aquarium, Inc.

Traveling Exhibits, Planetarium, Events

Award Amount: $242,067.00

The South Florida Science Center and Aquarium is the region’s premiere destination for top-rated museum exhibits, family science shows, entertaining live events and cutting-edge science classes and computer/robotics clubs. During the two-year period covered by the grant, more than 500,000 walk-in visitors of all ages will view blockbuster exhibits like Hall of Heroes, Body Worlds, rainforest Adventure and Mindbender Mansion, and participate in more than 200 on-campus events like Science of Chocolate, Shark Week, Nights at the Museum, Nerd Night, Engineer It and south Florida Maker Faire.

Journey through the Human Brain is the Science Center’s newest attraction. It’s a $2.5 million, 2,500 square foot, permanent exhibit that takes a bottom-up approach to telling the story of the human brain, from the molecular and cellular level to the integrated circuitry that creates our hopes, fears and memories.

SunFest of Palm Beach County, Inc.

SunFest 2020

Award Amount: $239,809.00

SunFest is an internationally-renowned arts festival that offers outstanding musical performances and visual arts experiences over four days in West Palm Beach. Having earned its reputation as one of America’s leading waterfront festivals, SunFest welcomes 130,000 guests each May to enjoy performances of pop, classic and new rock, R&B, reggae, hip-hop, and country, as well as contemporary visual arts installations. Grant dollars will help fund outside artist fees of nearly $3.7 million, enabling SunFest to market and present the very best in musical talent. More than three decades of success demonstrate that the performer line-up is SunFest’s most persuasive marketing tool: The festival’s economic impact has grown to nearly $30 million annually and more than 30% of guests travel from 49 states, 23 countries and 140 cities outside of Palm Beach County, generating important off-season revenue for area businesses.

Palm Beach State College

Palm Beach State College Performing Arts 2019-2020

Award Amount: $152,515.00

Palm Beach State College’s Theatres will present a season of high quality live performing arts experiences, outreach and visual art exhibits that are designed to serve a broad base of constituents through 4 venues in 3 regions of Palm Beach County – The Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center in Belle Glade, the Duncan Theatre and Stage West in Lake Worth and the Eissey Campus Theatre in Palm Beach Gardens. Artists have been selected from around the globe to share their talents with residents, youth & visitors from the far western boundaries to the eastern seaboard of Palm Beach County & beyond, serving 7 South Florida counties. Grant funds will be used to enhance and expand the quality and scope of artists presented.

The Armory Art Center, Inc.

Award Amount: $152,180.00

Tourist Development Council funding will support the Armory Art Center’s marketing, promotion, and delivery of cultural programs and activities that will attract out-of-region artists, students, visitors, and tourists.

The Henry Morrison Flagler Museum

Flagler Museum 2019-20 Programs

Award Amount: $241,314.00

The Flagler Museum interprets Whitehall, Florida’s history, and America’s Gilded Age through exhibitions, tours, ongoing preservation and conservation, and cultural programming, year-round. Special Exhibitions will include “Inside-Out: Women’s Status and Roles from Foundation to Silhouette” and “Walk this Way: Historic Footwear from the Stuart Weitzman Collection.” The Music Series will present internationally acclaimed chamber music and the Lecture Series will host authors in the Grand Ballroom. Public programs will include the Christmas Tree Lighting, Holiday Evening Tours, the Easter Egg Hunt, Piano /Organ Demonstrations, and Pop-Up Activities. Free admission will be provided on Founder’s Day. A Special Lecture will mark the centennial of Women’s Suffrage. Grant funds will be used to promote programming through marketing/advertising; marketing staff; performers/speakers; exhibition loan fees; and outside professional services/supplies to support programming and collections care.

The Morikami, Inc.

Marketing Stategies/Public Programs

Award Amount: $199,841.00

Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens proposes a marketing strategy to promote programs, exhibitions, classes, lectures and festivals to our broadening audience of out of the area visitors, particularly those from out of Palm Beach County. Morikami continues to evolve and expand; our newly renovated and technologically upgraded theater, expanded gallery and gardens improvements are attracting a growing customer base of sophisticated travelers. Our program documents past successes and presents future goals and reiterates our commitment to fully supporting the efforts of Pam Beach County as it presents itself as a premier tourist destination offering unique quality cultural experiences for discerning visitors and residents alike.

The Society of the Four Arts, Inc.

The Society of the Four Arts: 2019-20 Season Programming

Award Amount: $184,368.00

The Society of the Four Arts will use funds from this grant to promote our robust schedule of concerts, art exhibitions, telecasts, lectures, films and many other programs to a broad out-of-county audience both regionally and in key markets throughout the nation. Every year The Four Arts offers hundreds of arts and educational programs and offers significant value to visitors who are seeking an exceptional cultural experience.

The Zoological Society of the Palm Beaches, Inc. d/b/a Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society

Palm Beach Zoo & Conservation Society - Animals and Events

Award Amount: $239,307.00

The Palm Beach Zoo is an important part of the cultural infrastructure of our community. It provides family entertainment and inspiration, extensive education programming, and is a powerful driver behind the thriving tourism industry of Palm Beach County. Of the nearly 350,000 people who visited the Zoo in FY ’18, 15% were from Florida outside Palm Beach County, 7% were from other states and 1% came from other nations. We welcomed visitors from every State in the USA, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, and 14 other nations. This reflects a national and international trend in which nature and the environment are increasingly important to people as they plan their travels. The Zoo enjoys a growing reputation for excellence in animal populations, exhibits, and leadership. TDC grant dollars will enable the Zoo to use various advertising initiatives to expand brand awareness and create excitement about our charismatic animals, unique events, and up close and personal animal experiences.
