RESPONSE TO FDA'S "WARNING" REGARDING AUNT JENI'S HOME MADE TURKEY DOG FOOD LOT #175199 AUNT JENI'S HOME MADE CHICKEN DOG FOOD LOT # 1152013
It has come to our attention that FDA has issued a "warning" regarding the above referenced lot numbers of some of our dog foods. THIS IS NOT A RECALL.
We want to reassure our customers that there is no reason to worry about any of our products.
FDA took some samples of our food and had them tested, using their own FDA lab. They say they tested positive for Salmonella and Listeria. We sent samples of the exact same food to our own independent lab, which reported back NEGATIVE for Salmonella, E. Coli, and also Listeria. In addition to this, we test our batches in house on every production day, and have never had a positive result for Salmonella, E. Coli, or Listeria.
Even if there were Salmonella bacteria in the pet food, it would not be a reason not to use the food. But rest assured, two out of three tests performed on our products were negative. The only positive one came from the FDA's own lab.
Please be aware of the following: ? FDA has NOT asked us to do a recall. ? There is NO recall on any of our products. ? There have been NO complaints of illness or any dissatisfaction with the above referenced foods. ? Our employees have been feeding, and continue to feed, these lot numbers to our own pets with
absolutely NO ILL EFFECTS whatsoever.
In case you're not aware, the FDA has been on a witch hunt, searching for pathogens in raw pet food, since about 2015. They are making the rounds of all the smaller raw food manufacturers (those of us without funds to have a legal defense team on retainer) doing their best to find a reason to shut us down one way or another. They are making up their own rules in order to accomplish their goal. Their actions are a classic example of government overreach, rooted in ignorance and thriving on fear mongering. There is an article explaining this is more detail that you can read here:
Did you know: Meat that you purchase in the grocery store is allowed --even expected-- to contain bacteria. This is perfectly legal. And this is human grade meat intended for human consumption. This is the meat that we use in our products. However, the moment that exact same meat is labeled as being intended for your pets to consume, it becomes subject to a different set of rules invented by FDA that set a "zero tolerance" level for any and all bacteria. Ask yourself if this makes sense?
Remember: THERE IS NO RECALL ON ANY OF OUR PRODUCTS. If you have a bag of one of these lot numbers of food and you do not wish to use it, that is of course your choice. But we ask that you use some common sense before throwing away your money unnecessarily.
