|School Masses: |

|Our school will be represented each week at a mass to be held on Thursday mornings at 9.30am in Grange |

|chapel. Each class will attend on a specific week and we will also have whole school attendance on |

|certain days. Pupils from P4-7 will participate in the mass day liturgy on these occasions. The children |

|in |

|Mr. Mc Kinley’s class will participate in the mass litury on Thursday 1st October. |

|Class Assembly: |

|Our first assembly of this academic year will be presented by the pupils from the P6/7 class on Monday |

|28th September at our 10.00am assembly. Parents and family members are warmly invited to attend. |

|Primary One: |

|A ‘First Days at School’ photo of our Primary One class appeared in this week’s edition of ‘The |

|Outlook’. The actual photo is available for parents to purchase from school at a cost of £4.00. Anyone |

|wishing to order the photo should do so by sending £4 to school on or before TUESDAY 29th Sept. |

|Altar Servers: |

|A new rota for altar servers begins next week. |

|Friends of Grange: |

|Our big fundraising dance with Jim Devine and his band will take place next Friday 2nd October in the |

|Carrickdale Hotel. We anticipate that we will have the support of as many parents, grandparents, past |

|pupils and friends of our school as possible. This will be our MAJOR fundraising event this year and we |

|need to work together to ensure it is a success. |

|There will be a big raffle at the dance. All ticket stubs and money, or unsold tickets were to be |

|returned to school by TODAY, Friday 25th Sept. Please ensure ANY outstanding tickets are returned by |

|MONDAY 28th at the latest to be included in the raffle. Thank you to the families who not only sold the |

|ten tickets allocated, but also additional books of tickets which they requested. Your support is |

|greatly appreciated. |

|There will be a meeting of the Friends of Grange on Monday 28th September at 7.00pm to put final |

|arrangements in place for our big dance on Friday 2nd Oct. Members are asked to bring all event |

|tickets/raffle tickets/monies to this meeting. |

|Silent Valley |

|On Tuesday the children from Mrs Sloan’s class visited ‘The Silent Valley’ as part of their ‘World Around|

|Us’ topic on ‘Water’. A great day was had by all. Thanks to Joe Higgins who facilitated the outing. |

|After School Clubs: |

|After school clubs commenced this week for a 5 week block. We ask that children are collected at 3.45pm |

|sharp from school on the day of the club. |

|Computer Based Assessments (P4-7): |

|Next week, pupils from P4-7 will begin computer based assessments in literacy (NILA) and numeracy (NINA).|

|School Birthday Calendar photos: |

|The photographer will be in school on Tuesday 6th October to take our monthy birthday photos for use on |

|our website and creating a school calendar. We ask that all pupils come to school on the day in full |

|school uniform and we ask them to bring along a prop representative of the month of their birth. |

|Friday 25th September: |

|Today, Friday 25th, the United Nations announced its ‘Global Goals for Sustainable Development.’ These |

|worldwide goals aim to make our planet ‘fair, healthy and sustainable’ by the year 2030. Our P6/7 |

|assembly will begin a week of information on this initiative. All classes in school took part in the |

|‘World’s Largest Lesson’ today by logging on to find out what it is all about. |

|Come Dancing-Learn to Jive: |

|The final session of our jiving lessons will take place in Grange school hall on Monday 28th September |

|from 8.00-10.00pm. Well done to all who have attended. |

|Parent / Teacher Meetings (P4-7): |

|Meetings for parents of children in Primary 4-7 will take place on the week beginning Monday 16th |

|November. Further details will be sent home in due course. |

|Scholastic Book Fair: |

|We have arranged for Scholastic Book Fairs to come in to school on the week beginning Monday 12th |

|October.This will be in place of the Travelling Book Fair which would have visited school in January. |

|Leaflets and further information for individual class visits will follow shortly. |

|Competition Time: |

|Kilkeel Credit Union have launched this year’s Art competition. The competition is open to ALL pupils. |

|The theme this year is “Happiness is…”Entries must be landscape in design and submitted on either A3 or |

|A2 size paper. Each entry must have the pupil’s name, age and school on the back and each entry must be |

|accompanied by the appropriate signed Permission Entry Form. Closing date for return of entries to school|

|is: Monday 12th October. |

|Makaton Taster Session: |

|A taster session of this communication programme will occur on Wednesday 7th October (7-9pm) at Mourne |

|Stimulus Day Centre. Contact Bronagh on 07704945621 for further details. |
