PREFACE

The Federal Election Commission (FEC) has prepared this compilation of Federal campaign laws as an informative service to the general public. There are three major sections of this compilation:

1. Readers should be aware that some terms in the law are defined differently in different titles. Thus, the meaning of a particular term may not be consistent throughout this pamphlet. Note, therefore, the definitions provided in each title or section.
