The New Approach Special Notice – Release Date for NA 2021

Date: 12/21/2020

The release date for the 2021 version of NA (Ver. 3.22) will likely be January 4, 2021. The reason for this delay is that there are significant changes in the federal withholding table structure for paychecks issued in 2021. Three new tables have been added, and consequently have changed the payroll calculation procedures. If you need to issue a 2021 paycheck prior to the January 4 release date please contact technical support.

As most of you already know, the Form 1099-MISC used in 2019 and prior years for reporting “Nonemployee compensation” (Box 7) has changed. Beginning on January 1, 2021, nonemployee compensation for 2020 will be reported on Form 1099-NEC 2020 (Box 1). Please be aware that the NA 1099 financial reports will identify the “nonemployee compensation” as Box 7, similar to past years. However, that “Box 7” amount is what will appear in Box 1 of Form 1099-NEC 2020. You can test this by printing the Form 1099 on plain paper.

If you have any questions or comments please contact technical support. We are currently in the testing phase for the next revision of NA and will provide additional notification as needed.
