If so, what? What is a fact that was given in the conclusion of the story?Police DogsPolice dogs are working dogs. Very often, German shepherds are chosen for this work. What makes these dogs so good at it?For one thing, German shepherds are the right size and they are quite large and strong. With big chests, they can get enough wind for long runs. A thick coat of fur protects them in bad weather as well as helps them stay clean. They look alert and are very smart, so it is easy to train them to do hard jobs. What’s more, German shepherds have the right traits. Most dogs tend to be loyal, good friends; but these dogs will do whatever it takes to please their owners.Trainers work a long time to prepare these dogs for their work. They choose the dogs when they are still puppies and training begins when the dogs are very young. Police dogs train in police barracks. When training starts, a police dog learns how to attack, but only does so on command. First the dog bites a rag that the trainer waves in front of his or her own face. Then the dog practices on a person who wears thick pads. The dog learns to attack and hold onto someone but the dog does not bite that person. Most of the time, police dogs don’t have to attack. When people see police dogs coming, they give up. This is true even in prison fights.Police dogs also learn to search for things. To teach this skill, the trainer lets the dog sniff an object to get a scent of what they are going to search for. After the dog learns the smell of the thing it is going to look for, the trainer hides the object far away. The dog then searches the area part by part. A dog can find almost anything by its smell. If the dog is looking for a missing person, it starts at that person’s home. Of all the foot tracks in the house, the dog must sniff out the missing person’s scent.German shepherds make excellent police dogs because they are smart, strong, and patient and they can wait quietly for long periods of time. The dogs’ calm and gentle natures show they can be well trained. ................
