National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training

To be in compliance with Department of Homeland Security requirements, all government officials at all levels of government (local, state, and federal) must complete the NIMS training by December 31, 2006.

On-Line Courses

IS 700 – Introductory course that all government officials must attend. (Approximately 2 hours to complete)

IS 800 – National Response (Approximately 3 hours to complete)

ICS 100 (Approximately 3 hours to complete)

ICS 200 (Approximately 6 hours to complete)

Facilitated Course

ICS 300 – PEMA to schedule courses. This course is for EPLO’s only.

The IS 700 is the introductory course and is a prerequisite for all additional courses. Each course builds on the prior required course, as listed. Courses are broken into three groups: Responders, Non Responders, and Agency EPLO’s.

Who should take which class?

Non Responders - all Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries, Bureau Directors, and Assistant Directors who will not immediately respond during an emergency event.

Required Courses: IS700 and ICS 100

Responders – all Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries, Bureau Directors, Assistant Directors, Division Chiefs, Emergency Response Teams/Personnel, Capitol Police, Operational Staff, and Agency EPLO’s

Required Courses: IS700, ICS 100, and ICS 200

EPLO’s – all agency EPLO’s

Required Courses: IS700, IS800, ICS 100, ICS 200, and ICS 300
