Slide 5 - Enhancements Overview

[pic]

Slide notes

In Fusion Compensation Release 10 there are six enhancements that we have provided for “Increasing Flexibility and Collaboration for Compensation Planning”. Four of these enhancements affect Workforce Compensation (“WFC”); there are two enhancements for Total Compensation Statements (“TCS”) - one overlaps with “WFC”; and there is one enhancement for Approval Notifications applicable to Salary and Individual Compensation.

Slide 6 - Workforce Compensation Supports Matrix Hierarchies

[pic]

Slide notes

Now in release 10 with matrix hierarchies supported in Workforce Compensation, you can create up to three hierarchies for a single compensation plan to give multiple managers access to the same workers. The three regions will only appear if you are a secondary or review manager to a plan. Otherwise, only the primary region will display.

Budgeting, modeling and approvals remain with the primary hierarchy. The secondary and the review hierarchy enable other users to view compensation information for workers available to them, propose allocations, and save those allocations. The primary worksheet manager can either accept or overwrite those proposals.

Later in this presentation under Setup Detail and Setup Demo, you will see where to configure these choices. There is a new task available in plan setup called Configure Hierarchies. You can configure the primary hierarchy (which is what we have today), a secondary hierarchy, and a review hierarchy.

Slide 7 - WFC Supports Matrix Hierarchies

[pic]

Slide notes

Now that Workforce Compensation provides the ability to configure up to three hierarchies, global organizations can for example, create a country-based hierarchy that enables country leaders to manage the budget, and a secondary hierarchy that allows line managers to manage the compensation for their organization, or you can even give a dotted line manager access to a worker’s compensation if the worker completed a project for them.

The source of these hierarchies can be the primary line manager hierarchy, another manager hierarchy, a formula, or a position or department tree.

Slide 20 - WFC: Hide Ineligible Workers from Worksheet

[pic]

Slide notes

With release 10 Workforce Compensation, there is a new configuration option on the Configure Eligibility task of plan setup, that enables you to hide or display ineligible workers, whether they are found ineligible by the start process, or the refresh process, or manually made ineligible.

Later in this presentation under Setup Detail and Setup Demo, you will see more about how to configure these choices.

Slide 35 - WFC: New Error Alert Type

[pic]

Slide notes

Now in release 10, you can configure a custom alert using the new alert type called “Error preventing submit” when you create or edit a workforce compensation plan. This will allow managers to save their worksheet even if the custom alert was triggered. However they won’t be able to submit their worksheets for approval until they have resolved the alert scenario that was triggered.

Slide 36 - WFC: New Error Alert Type

[pic]

Slide notes

Currently a custom alert can be configured to prevent managers from saving their worksheet if the alert is triggered. This new custom alert allows managers to save their work, but requires all errors to be resolved before submission. Later in this presentation under Setup Detail and Setup Demo, you will see more detail about how to configure these choices.

Slide 49 - Import Data into External Tables

[pic]

Slide notes

In release 10, a new task is available from the Compensation work area called Manage External Worker Data that allows you to easily import data from a third party (such as 401K plan data) or legacy system data (such as bonuses) using Oracle ADF Desktop Integration Add-in for Microsoft Excel. From the Manage External Data page, you can open the spreadsheet template to populate your data and then import the data into the application.

Learn how to set this up later on in this presentation (under Setup Detail and Setup Demo), where you will create different record types to identify the source or purpose of the data by configuring the lookup type CMP_EXTERNAL_DATA_RECORD_TYPE. You can then select the record type and column name to use as a default value in a workforce compensation worksheet column or as a compensation item in a total compensation statement.

Slide 168 - Setup Summary: Workforce Compensation

[pic]

Slide notes

[The new setups for Workforce Compensation are achieved by configuring options within the Compensation Work Area under Manage Plans. There are three places within Manage Plans where these offerings are configured.]

-Configure Hierarchies

-Configure Plan Eligibility &

-Configure Alerts

These three areas are depicted in the next slide.

Slide 169 - Workforce Compensation: New Features > Setup Detail

[pic]

Slide notes

In the setup demo we will drill into each of these three areas showing the setup which can be performed to use the new features. We will see a check-box to allow ineligible workers to show up on the manager’s worksheet. We will see how to easily configure primary, secondary and other hierarchies. And I will show how to set up a new error to prevent managers from submitting their worksheets, unless the error is first resolved.

Notes

Slide 170 - Implementation Decision Points

[pic]

Slide notes

There are some important choices to consider prior to setting up the three new features.

-Consider whether your organization needs primary, secondary or other reviewers to access the worksheet for allocation purposes. Also consider what is the source for these hierarchies.

-Consider whether ineligible workers should be hidden or appear on the worksheets. If you hide ineligible workers, managers will not be able to request an eligibility change.

-For the new custom alert, think about whether there are cases where an error might be configured that you would prefer managers to resolve prior to submitting their worksheet, yet you would still like to allow them to save any work they may have already performed.

Slide 171 - Setup Best Practices : Workforce Compensation Features

[pic]

Slide notes

Here are a few best practice ideas to help you use these new features.

Workforce Compensation Matrix Hierarchies:

- If your organization uses matrices, then consider these 4 helpful tips that could save you time in configuring and testing this offering.

-Build your plan one hierarchy at a time to help test your configuration

-Build the primary hierarchy based on budgeting responsibility and approval flow

-Secondary and review hierarchies have no impact on budgeting/approval

-Use the new Refresh Data options to individually refresh data for primary, secondary and other reviewer hierarchies

Workforce Compensation: Hide Ineligible Workers:

- If you are just implementing Workforce Compensation, we recommend that you track ineligible workers to help you see and verify eligible versus ineligible workers. Later on you can remove the tracking or hide the ineligible workers.

WFC: Prevent Worksheet Submission Using New Error Alert Type:

- There is an icon available on the alert building condition dialog box, that will help you test the condition, before you click OK. The test will simulate your rule and response to see if you have built the conditions correctly.

Slide 188 - Setup Summary: Import Data in External Tables for use in Workforce Compensation and Total Compensation Statements

[pic]

Slide notes

The setup for “Import External Data into Workforce Compensation and Total Compensation Statements” is achieved by configuring options within the Compensation Work Area under Common Configuration, Total Compensation Statements and Workforce Compensation. These four areas are shown in the next slide.

Slide 189 - Import Data in External Tables for use in Workforce Compensation and Total Compensation Statements

[pic]

Slide notes

-First, under Common Configuration, define a lookup type that describes the data to be imported, such as 401K or Bonus. You may decide that the delivered lookups are sufficient.

-Next, import that data using Manage External Data, also under Common Configuration.

-Optionally, display the External Data in Total Compensation Statements by configuring an item and then finish the category and statement definition configuration.

-Optionally, display External Data in Workforce Compensation Worksheets by configuring a custom column and then finish the plan configuration and start the compensation cycle.

-In the setup demo we will drill into each of these areas showing the setup which can be performed to use external data.

Slide 191 - Setup Best Practices: Import Data in External Tables for use in Workforce Compensation and Total Compensation Statements

[pic]

Slide notes

The external data columns are simply labeled 1 through 50, so you will need a way to keep track of what you are importing into those columns. Later on when you are exposing those columns in Workforce Compensation or Total Compensation, they can be labeled with friendly names.

Slide 221 - Setup Best Practices: Migrate Total Compensation Statements Using Functional Setup Manager

[pic]

Slide notes

It is not recommended to migrate individual objects, such as compensation items, from one environment to another. There is a risk you could create orphan data or referential errors.
