Welcome to the 2014-2015

Diamond Canyon School Year!

Dear Parents,

We are looking forward to working with you and your child this year. We are certain the upcoming year will prove to be exciting and challenging as your child grows intellectually, physically, socially, and emotionally!

The purpose of this handbook is to familiarize you with the classroom procedures, expectations, and policies as they pertain to all fifth grade classes. Please take the time to go through this with your child. Once you have read the handbook, please sign, and return the student information page at the end of this handbook.

We encourage you to contact us at any time, if you have questions or concerns. E-mail is the most effective way to communicate with us. Diamond Canyon is trying to go paperless as much as possible; therefore, the use of email will greatly help us in this endeavor.

Thank you in advance for your support and cooperation this year!

Sincerely,

The Fifth Grade Team

Are there any areas of concern, which may affect your child’s academic progress?

What are your child’s strengths?

What are your child’s hobbies?

Parents are strongly encouraged to monitor their child’s progress on a weekly basis through Power Schools. If you do not have an access code, please contact the office (students may also obtain their own access code). Upon logging into PowerSchools, you will have the option to have your child’s grades e-mailed to you daily, weekly or monthly. Checking your child’s grades via PowerSchool’s will support parent/teacher/student communication and will help to promote academic success.

(Please sign and return only this page to your child’s homeroom teacher.)

I have read over the policies of the fifth grade team at Diamond Canyon and I have discussed them with my child.
