AGRICULTURE TRADE KEY STATISTICS 1st Quarter 2021

Date: 25/06/2021

The Ministry of Agriculture presents the key trade statistics and performance of agriculture sector more particularly the crop and livestock commodities in the 1st quarter of 2021 as compared to the same period of 2019 and 2020. The trade data provided by the Fiji Bureau of Statistics was further organized, processed and tabulated based on the core trade data items of the Ministry by the Fiji Agriculture & Rural Statistics Unit.

This release records agriculture trade data at national, sector, sub-sector and commodity level that can respond to the needs of our data users. Unless otherwise indicated, year refers to calendar year and in some instances, figures were rounded-off or combined.

Average Growth

The entire Agriculture sector contributed an average of 55% to the national domestic export earnings while the crop and livestock sub-sectors accounted for

22% in the 1st quarters of the referenced years (2019 ? 2021). Fresh/chilled produce injected an average of 22.3 million FJD to Fiji's economy within the 1st

quarter of 3 years (2019- 2021) which is accounted for 9% of the national domestic export earnings.
