5. BUAD 490, Directed Research: I supervised a large number of individual undergraduates at USC in directed reading courses aimed at learning and applying advanced statistical techniques to business projects. Often these reading courses have been in conjunction with a senior honors thesis.
STANFORD UNIVERSITY (1995-1998)
1. Statistics 116: Theory of Probability: I taught this course (as the instructor of record) in the summer of 1996. This is the statistics department's introductory probability course. The lectures were broadcast live via the Stanford Instructional Television Network to companies with Stanford affiliations. Full responsibility for a course was unusual for a graduate student in the Stanford Department of Statistics.
2. Stanford University Department of Statistics Seminar Course: I was the founder and teacher of this inaugural course on how to be a good teacher and course assistant, 1997-1998. This seminar was required for all first year Ph.D. students and became a prerequisite for candidacy.
3. Science, Mathematics and Engineering Core: I was an inaugural TA in 1996 and 1997 for this program which was designed to teach broad principles of science in an exciting and applicable fashion to non-science majors. My responsibilities included fundamental participation in course design and choice of materials, construction of assignments, examinations and paper topics, running laboratory sessions and discussions.
4. Department of Statistics Courses: I was a course assistant at Stanford from 1995-1998 and served as head TA for many of the department's offerings at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
