Monthly Utility Bills

1. Find at least one continuous year's worth of monthly natural gas, electricity and water bills.

2. Record the GJ of natural gas, the kWh of electricity and the litres of water you used on those bills, and record them below. Write an "A" next to each number that is an actual reading, and write an "E" next to each number that is an estimated reading.

3. Total the consumption and record it at the bottom.

4. For comparison: in Edmonton, the average household consumption is 6600 kWh per year of electricity, 135 GJ per year of natural gas and 450 litres per day per person of water. I have seen some household electricity consumption as high as 14 000 kWh (lots of kids and no energy wisdom), and as low 2,900 kWh (2 adults, no kids, very energy wise).
