Takla Nation is a vibrant, innovative First Nation, based in Takla Landing and Prince George, BC. The Nation is seeking a Financial Controller with First Nations and/or public sector experience to support the varied financial activities of the Nation

Reporting to the General Manager - Operations, the Controller is responsible for the overall management of the Nation's accounting functions. Responsibilities include: plan, manage, train staff, monitor and control all financial management functions and provide professional oversight to the Finance Department. The Controller is responsible for performing various full cycle accounting functions, financial reporting, risk management, and analysis. This position will appeal to a leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who welcomes working in a cross-cultural setting, with the ability to make a difference. The work of the Controller and the Finance Department enhance and impact the reputation of the Nation as we become a leader in negotiating Rights, Title and Interests, building services for Members, and strengthening Nation-based business.

Qualifications include: ? Knowledge of First Nations culture and traditions, and of systemic issues faced by First Nations people, and of the political and administrative structures of First Nations; ? Experience in First Nations and/or public sector is preferred; ? Chartered Professional Accountant designation, in good standing; ? Minimum four years' relevant experience ? Demonstrated commitment to service excellence; ? Demonstrated superior analytical thinking, planning, prioritization and execution skills; ? Willingness to actively engage in implementing appropriate and necessary financial systems in a time of rapid growth; ? Proven ability to analyze financial data, prepare reports/statements/projections, and assist departments with timely financial reporting;
