POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

|POSITION: |financial aid advisor |

|PRIMARY LOCATION: |DeKalb or Newton Campus |

|DESCRIPTION: |Under general supervision, counsels and advises students to develop and personalize an educational plan. |

|ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: |Assist students to make an informed tuition investment decision by providing accurate, helpful student financial aid |

| |advice. |

| |Guide students through the financial aid application process. |

| |Perform initial contact, financial aid advising, and direct outreach advising sessions. |

| |Serve as the single point of contact for financial aid issues. |

| |Manage escalated concerns and resolve issues in a timely manner. |

| |Establish excellence in customer service. |

| |Maintain a thorough understanding of federal, state, and university financial aid programs, policies and procedures. |

| |Ensure advising and issue management complies with applicable federal and state laws. |

| |Utilize and update databases and process applications for financial aid received from students. |

| |Perform accuracy in verification of financial aid information and other detailed information submitted by students and|

| |families. |

| |Determine eligibility for federal, state, university, and other aid programs in accordance with all applicable laws, |

| |regulations, policies, guidelines, and other governing criteria. |

| |Develop and formulates appropriate aid packages for students. |

| |Formulate, produce, and distribute financial aid award notifications and ensure that the financial aid the awarded aid|

| |is appropriately disbursed. |

| |Review each student aid recipient's academic performance |

| |Determine whether satisfactory academic progress is being achieved. |

| |Complete other projects and duties as assigned. |

|MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: |Bachelor’s degree in a related field *and* Two (2) years of work related experience. |

| |Note: Experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis. |

|salary/benefits: |The salary range is $30,000 - $34,000 and will be based upon education, experience, and other qualifications. This is |

| |a full-time position with paid state holidays, accrued annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Health and |

| |Flexible Benefits Program. |
