I understand that I will be awarded based on six hours of enrollment. If my registration exceeds six hours, I may be required to submit a Revision Request Form with a copy of my summer class schedule.

I understand that I must be enrolled in at least six credit hours over the summer in order to be eligible for Direct loans.

I understand that if I was enrolled and received financial aid in fall or spring, summer aid may be limited. I understand that institutional grant funding for the summer semester is limited and is subject to eligibility and fund availability.

I understand that transient students (students who are not seeking a degree from UHD) are NOT eligible for financial aid from UHD.

I understand that if there is a change in my enrollment, my financial aid may not release to my account. It is my responsibility to secure payment arrangements to remain enrolled.

I understand that if I am currently on financial aid probation or academic plan, my summer application will not be processed until spring grades are available and my academic progress has been reviewed.

Please ensure your Summer Financial Aid Application is thoroughly and accurately completed prior to submission. Processing time is extremely limited for summer sessions.

*Direct Loan funds require at least half-time enrollment (6 hours-undergraduate/4 hours-graduates) to disburse. If you enroll less than half-time for the summer, you are INELIGIBLE to receive any loan funds.

Financial Aid Awards

Pell Grant--Pell Grant eligible students can receive up to 150% of their scheduled Pell award each year. This means that if you received Pell for both fall and spring terms, you may qualify for a Pell Grant for the summer.

If you enrolled full-time (12+ hours) and received your full-time Pell for fall and spring, you must enroll at least half-time (6 hours) for the summer term to receive a summer award. Remaining lifetime Pell Grant eligibility is also required.

Federal Student Loans--The amount of loans you received during the Fall 2018 and Spring 2019 semesters determine your summer loan eligibility. If you did not borrow the maximum annual eligibility during these terms, or your grade level changed for the summer, you may receive a summer loan. For example, if your grade level was sophomore during the spring semester and junior during the summer, you may have additional loan eligibility for summer.

Disbursement

The Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid (OSFA) will authorize financial aid disbursement no earlier than 7 days prior to the first day of class. Once OSFA authorizes disbursement, funds will release to student accounts and display in the payment portion of the student account statement. Funds will apply to any outstanding balance for summer. Remaining funds will refund to the student via the chosen method. If you do not register for the hours as indicated on this application, funds may be delayed, reduced or cancelled. Please notify our office if your registration changes.

Funds will disburse in summer 1 regardless of summer session enrollment. Student loans and certain grants will only disburse if you are enrolled half-time. For example, if you enroll in 3 hours for Summer 1 and 3 hours for Summer 3, student loans and certain grants will disburse to Summer 1. If you fail to begin attendance in the later course, financial aid may be reversed. You will owe a balance to the university and may not be able to register for Fall 2019.

Repayment of Funds/Failing Grades

If you must drop a class or withdraw from school for any reason please notify the financial aid office. Enrollment changes may affect your financial aid. Depending on the date of the drop or withdrawal, you may owe all or a portion of any disbursed summer aid. The university will place a financial hold on your account until the balance is paid in full.

If you fail to earn a passing grade in at least one of your summer courses, you will be required to repay all or a portion of the financial aid received, unless you can prove you completed the class but failed to learn the objectives of the course.
