In that regard, through lecture, discussion and practice sessions, the successful student should possess the framework and tools for preparing personal financial plans that will serve as road maps for goal achievement. The course will emphasize the dynamics of the financial planning process by considering the impact of life-changing events such as school, birth, marriage, divorce, career, and death.Course ObjectiveThe objective of this course is to give the students a basic understanding of the financial planning tools and techniques necessary to successfully develop their own personal financial plan. Successful students will understand the links between all of the major elements of effective money management, the key concepts and procedures used in sound personal financial planning and the roles of various financial decisions in the overall personal financial planning process. In that regard, the course will seek to provide examples which demonstrate success and failures in various aspects of personal financial planning with a goal of preparing the student to confidently prepare and execute their own personal financial plan.Required TextPersonal Finance – Turning Money into Wealth, Authur J. ISBN: 978-0-13-473036-3Required CalculatorStudents could choose any calculator to use in thecourse during the semester except for (i) calculator apps in smart phone or (ii) calculators that has wireless access to the internet. If the calculator is not in compliance, the exam proctor has the authority to remove your calculator for further use on that exam. Please do not risk having to incur the consequences. If you plan to use an unfamiliar, obscure type of calculator, you should check with you instructor any time before the actual exam date to avoid any potential complications during the actual exam.The instructor is only required to be familiar with calculators with Texas Instrument brand and contain financial functions. I will use TI BA-II plus financial calculator. During the semester, if you use a different brand, you are required to learn the keys on your own. You could use user manual of the calculator or/and related YouTube videos to learn. These dates and times are published in that semester's course catalog. Administration procedures must be followed. It is the student's responsibility to handle withdrawal requirements from any class. In other words, I cannot drop or withdraw any student. You must do the proper paperwork to ensure that you will not receive a final grade of "F" in a course if you choose not to attend the class once you are enrolled. I will NOT announce withdrawal deadlines or any other enrollment related dates. ................
