|SUBJECT: |Revision to Chapter 1 of Policies and Procedures Manual for Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Operations |
|Purpose: |To notify staff that Chapter 1 “Policies” of the AAA Policies & Procedures Manual has been finalized. |
|Background: |AAAs are contractually obligated to operate in accordance with the Policies & Procedures Manual for Area |
| |Agency on Aging operations. |
| | |
| |ALTSA updates the Policies & Procedures Manual for AAAs as needed. All updated chapters are released in a |
| |Management Bulletin for a 30 day review and comment period. After this period, the finalized chapters are |
| |released in a Management Bulletin and made available on the ALTSA intranet and internet sites. |
| | |
| |A draft of Chapter 1 “Policies” was released for review and comment on February 13, 2014. Comments were |
| |considered and incorporated into the final chapter. |
|What’s new, changed, or |Final changes to Chapter 1 include: |
|Clarified | |
| |A new Section XI. Major Incident Reporting clarifies expectations for AAAs to report incidents to ALTSA’s |
| |State Unit on Aging; |
| |A new Section XII. Emergency Planning replaces MB H07-072 Emergency Planning for Vulnerable Populations |
| |Served by AAAs; |
| |Updated language reflects changes in DSHS’s organizational structure, including ALTSA’s new mission, vision |
| |and values; |
| |Updated language in the Description of Area Agencies on Aging, including removal of service descriptions that|
| |are published in Chapter 3: Service Definitions and Guidelines; |
| |Expansion of appropriate activities that can be provided in settings other than in-home. |
|ACTION: |Effective Immediately: |
| | |
| |AAAs shall replace Chapter 1 of the AAA Policies & Procedures Manual with this new version. |
| | |
| |Effective July 1, 2014: |
| | |
| |All new policies in Chapter 1, including Major Incident Reporting policies for subcontractors, must be |
| |implemented. |
