Congratulations on your new (or future) addition to the family.

Your new puppy to be is produced by temperamentally sound parents who were certified (copies included in your packet) to be free of elbow/hip dysplasia, inherited eye and heart defects. We typically have them wormed a minimum of 3 times & inoculated with the appropriate vaccination(s) at the proper age before going home. We will advise each owner individually if there are any changes or additional treatment(s) that may be required. Also, if interested, the puppies can be micro-chipped for an additional fee of $25.00. A medical chart is included with each puppy package that documents all prior treatments & has a guide for when to do future vaccinations.

Agreement for a pup out of _____________________________________ (mom dog/s)

The following agreement is between Alice & Pat Brown (breeders), hereafter referred to as “Seller”, & the new owner of the Golden Retriever Puppy __________________________________, (PRINT YOUR NAME), hereafter referred to as “Purchaser”.

We sell all our pups on a Standard Limited Spay/ Neuter Contract which requires:

1. PROOF of fixing. A receipt or letter from your vet is required along with the date it was completed.

2. PROOF of completion of a basic puppy training course, or if personally training, a home video of the dog completing the following tasks upon request: Sit, Lay Down, Stay, Come and Heal on a leash.

3. Yearly updates on the dogs’ health. Due in Jan. every year, access form via Website or by my sending. These are done to help us with our program and to help all other owners. If one owner has an issue it may affect the owners of all the other siblings as well.

If the first 2 conditions are not completed, the contract will automatically switch to a breeding contract, breeding contracts are an additional $1,000. If you cannot commit to these agreements please find another Breeder. Please initial that you have read the above section. _____ (INITIAL THAT YOU HAVE READ & UNDERSTAND),

If you are interested in a Breeding or Showing Contract, please discuss these options with us PRIOR to getting the pup, as all our pups are normally sold on the Standard Limited Spay/Neuter contract.

STANDARD LIMITED SPAY & NEUTER CONTRACT:

Most all our puppies are sold under a “limited” pet purchase agreement that requires spaying or neutering at the

appropriate age, of which proof is to be forwarded to us by the age of 12 months. This means your dog receives a

“limited” registration contract from AKC which means your dog will be AKC registered but if it has puppies the puppies

will not be registered. There are also competitions you cannot compete in, when showing your dog. If purchasing on a

“limited” contract and spaying or neutering is not completed by 12 months of age (proof must be forwarded to us), you

will be subject to an additional $1,000. fee plus any court costs involved to enforce this. If there is a medical or other

viable reason for this not being done by 12 months of age you must contact us immediately (before the 12 month date)

& send us any documentation. At that point we will work out a reasonable alternative on a case by case basis. If this

dog is accidentally bred, this contract will automatically be changed to a breeding contract of which there is a $5000

accidental breeding fee.

I agree to a “spay/neuter” contract & will send PROOF of fixing by 12 months along with a training course completion, I will not be breeding this dog. ________________________________, (SIGN YOUR NAME),

This contract is in consideration of a purchase price of $______ dollars (additional fees for Breeding apply) plus Sales Tax in the State of WA, of which $100. is a non-refundable “waiting list” deposit & 2nd $100. is a non-refundable “hold” deposit on a specific puppy, remaining balance is due at the time of pickup of the puppy. The Seller transfers in fee all rights, privileges & responsibilities associated with the male/female dog of the Golden Retriever breed, to the Purchaser/Co-Owner with the above noted, initialed & signed limitations at the date specified below.

Seller guarantees the health of the dog specified above for 10 days, enough time to be thoroughly checked out by a qualified Veterinarian. If the pup dies before or after the 10 days the owner is required to have a full autopsy performed to determine the main cause of death. If the new owner is found to be at fault, there will be no refund, if an autopsy is NOT performed there will be no refund & this contract ends with no further action or obligation from the Seller. In the event of health issues, not resulting in death, where the genetic condition is sufficiently serious in the opinion of two qualified veterinarians, at least one of whom is selected by the Seller, to warrant euthanasia of the dog (2nd opinion is not needed if you use our vet - Amazia Vet Clinic) within 1 year following the sale & physical removal of the dog, Seller binds themselves to one of the following:

If Euthanized:

1. Receive a replacement. Replacement will be of equivalent or better quality/price from the next litter of choice up to 1 year. After 1 year from euthanasia contract is void.

2. Receive a refund of up to, but not greater than the purchase price.

If not Euthanized & corrective surgery is done:

1. Receive a refund for surgery receipts paid - up to, but not greater than the purchase price.

2. Get a credit voucher for a free future pup,

1. Receive a replacement voucher. Replacement will be from a future litter of equivalent or better quality/price.

2. Receive a refund of up to the purchase price, no more, (does not include microchip fee).

Purchaser has the right to cancel all orders for a pup during the first 24 hours from Breeder getting receipt of 1st deposit for a return of said deposit (Buyer’s Remorse).

Purchaser has the right to cancel or return the healthy dog to Seller during the first 24 hours, from the date of physical removal & time of signature of this agreement, for credit in the amount of the purchase price (minus any micro-chipping fees & replacement paperwork) towards the acquisition of another animal from that litter or a future litter of equal quality; or for a refund of the purchase price less the non-refundable deposits & any micro-chipping & replacement paperwork fees (no fee as long as you have not written on it). Deposits held will be used to re-advertise puppy for placement.

Dysplasia & other joint problems can be hereditary AND environmentally induced. We screen the adults to limit the hereditary issues, but only you can control their environment. Please be aware that strenuous activity prior to 1 year, bad diet, overweight issues & using a cheap puppy food in a large breed dog can be contributing factors causing joint problems. (it has been found that protein/calcium rich puppy foods make the bone grow faster than the muscle & cartilage thus causing hip & joint problems. It is best to use a LARGE BREED PUPPY FOOD but if one is not available then using an adult dog food is better than using non large breed puppy food – this helps keep both muscle and bone growth rates more equal). NOTE: A new environment & switching foods at the same time can cause upset tummies & urinary issues, it is best to keep them on the included Large Breed Puppy food until they fully adjust to their new environment before switching their foods.

The buyer agrees that if they are not able to keep the dog, they will not sell, give away, or otherwise dispose of this dog without first contacting us. We will either accept the dog on a return basis, or assist the buyer in finding a suitable alternative home. This does not imply any financial commitment on our part, only the knowledge of where our dogs are for future tracking purposes. The next owner of said dog must also sign, add address & phone number to the original contract with a copy forwarded to us. They are bound to the same contract as you, if this is not completed you will be held financially responsible for any breach of contract they make. Please forward a signed, copy to us, give them the original, & keep a copy for yourself. We also require a yearly update on the health of each of our pups of which it is on our website or a hard copy can be mailed upon request. A yearly reminder will be sent out, so please let us know if you move.

Puppies are to be picked up by a set date all pups not picked up by 8 weeks of age will pay a weekly boarding fee of $100.00, or a daily fee of $15.00.

This contract contains the entire agreement of the parties and shall be construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington. Both parties stipulate that there are no other agreements other than those set forth in this document. Any legal action filed by either party in an effort to enforce this contract, will be filed in the City of Vancouver, Washington. The purchaser agrees that any deviation from the provisions of this contract will cause one of the following: the immediate return of the dog/pup to the breeder in good health and or a 2,500 fine will be due and payable to the breeder as a penalty. In the case of abuse both the return of the animal and the fine will be imposed. If any legal action occurs, the prevailing party will be entitled to recover reasonable costs and all attorney fees.

Each party acknowledges that they have read and understand the terms and conditions of this Contract and have voluntarily entered and are obligated to fulfill their obligations in every respect. By signature each party agree to this contract and also acknowledge that they have received a signed copy of this Agreement.

New Owners Address

Dear Owner(s) to be:  The following is my UPDATED (1/2016) basic overview of what to expect & what will happen in regards to purchasing a puppy from us.  It includes a basic questionnaire that I would appreciate you fill out & return to me.  This info is for our own purposes it will not go to anyone else.  We are not trying to be nosy, it helps us in determining what info we should go over with each person, helps you to identify things you may not have thought beforehand, it also helps match puppies with owners for a better fit.  We typically do not pick out your puppy for you, but if you note that you have an alpha male dog at home already then we would suggest getting a female dog as typically they will not fight.  If you still wanted the alpha male pup then we would want to discuss how you plan to keep them from fighting - separate kennel areas etc.  We want our pups to be happy & healthy and we want their owners to also be Happy with their choice, dealing with dog fights & vet bills typically does not make an owner happy.  Most answers do not disqualify you they will only help us help you become a better owner.  We have a lot of info and only have so much time when you pick out your pup that if we know about you we can help tailor that info for your needs.  Thank you for your interest in our puppies.

QUESTIONNAIRE Current Price is $1400.00 plus tax in WA, unless otherwise told different, if different please state price given here_________

Due to recent fraudulent purchasing & reselling of puppies, by people giving & signing alias names, we will be requiring a photo drivers license or ID matching the Owner for all purchases.  You may send this in ahead of time or if uncomfortable you may show us at the time you pick out your pup.

These questions help you to get fully ready & take the time to think through all commitments involved in owning a puppy.  Owning a pup/dog is a long term situation that can last the next 10-15 years.  A Dog/pup that get passed from home to home can & do end up with issues not to mention behaviors learned at one house may not be welcome at the next home so then they can get passed off over & over causing more issues & possibly ending up at the pound.  We do not want that for our "babies".  So please if you cannot take full responsibility for the next 10-15 years please pass and wait until you can. We appreciate your interest & ask that you really think thru each of these questions, even if your answer is simple the question is aimed to make you think through the aspect of getting a puppy.

 15.  Do you plan on keeping the animal intact for breeding or showing?  YES   NO    MAYBE

We do charge more for breeding rights & require that we be co-owners on ALL dogs that are to be kept intact for either showing or breeding, once the dog is fixed we will release our co-owner rights.  We can explain in detail more about this if you want.

16. Do you plan on taking the puppy/dog to obedience classes?  YES    NO

We require that all our puppies have at least one formal training class that includes the whole family, we have found that owners that do this are happier with their dogs and also find that the dogs who are trained know what is expected and get clearer consistent, commands from ALL their owners, so they know what is expected and are able to comply faster & easier, we have found this helps with the bonding & helps reduce the need for re-homing. Re-homing tends to occur more often for dogs that have not been trained. We recommend starting at a young age, right after the puppy has all their shots is the best & easiest time. A dog in the first year can learn over 50 commands. We require 7, Sit, Down, Off, Stay (1 spot for several minutes until released), Come, Heal & On your Rug. Most places will teach all but “on your rug,” that one you can do at home. Once they have Down and Stay mastered you then add the rug portion. Once learned the rug can be moved from area to area or house to house or vacation place, even into a vehicle. It is great when visitors arrive, so the dog is not right in the middle of everyone tripping or jumping on them. We do recommend that after the visitors arrive they go give the dog a pet and say “good on your rug”.

17.  What is the most important things you are looking for in a pup/dog, please be specific this helps us determine if the pup you are picking is the correct one for you, explain your household energy level, (runners, hikers, hunters, laid back, sedentary? (ie a runner will not be happy with a dog who cannot keep up)

18.  Do any of your family members have any allergies to dogs or other animals?  YES    NO

19. Why did you choose the Golden Retriever Breed? ____________________________________________________________________________________

 ____________________________________________________________________________________

____________________________________________________________________________________

 20.  Have you ever had to euthanize a dog/puppy for anything other than old age? YES    NO If yes please explain.  ______________________________________________________________________

21. Will you be doing water activities (like boating) where you cannot to see shore? YES    NO If yes, we need to make sure the pup does not have a U-Neck, this does not happen often, but if your pup has a U-neck it may not be able to make it back to shore if it is a long ways away, so we may recommend another pup or use of a life jacket.

Thank you for your interest, if you have filled this out it should have helped you think over your decision fully. At that point you should be ready for the next steps.  Below is an overview of what will happen next.  Thanks again for taking the time to fill this out.

Sincerely, Alice & Pat Brown, Owners of Browns Golden Delights, LLC.

These last pages are info pages, on how we do things, they are just for your reference, please read as it will answer most all of your questions, you do not need to send them back. Thanks Alice

BEFORE PUPS ARE BORN: To get on our waiting list for one of our puppies; please send in the above questionnaire & a $100.00 non-refundable deposit.  If needed this deposit can be rolled over to the next future litter, up to 1 year if there is reasonable unforeseen circumstances where you cannot get a pup from the current litter, please let us know in a timely manner if you need to change to a future litter as we pre-sell a certain number per litter.  Also if you want a male and all we have is females or vice versa, we can roll your deposit over to our next litter of equal quality, you may also request to wait until the same female has her next litter (est. 1 year later unless she is scheduled to be fixed). Refunds are not given unless we are not able to match your request (see green portion of Questionnaire) or if something happens to the pup & there are no others to choose from that match the green portion of the questionnaire & you do not want to wait until the next litter of equal value.

The mother is brought into the house about a week before delivery to get a bath and adjust to the house routine, so she gets comfortable before she delivers.  Info is posted on the website (2015 UPDATE – My PC Crashed so I am doing it by text or e-mail, until I get it fixed, the website still has info on it I just cannot update it)   about her estimated due date and then typically when she is going into labor. I would recommend watching about 3-5 days before her due date.  A notice on the home page of our website, along with the date, will be posted on anything new.  If it is an older date, then typically nothing has happened since then.  Once in labor or when a pup is born, I will note on the home page the date and a tally (ie 3 males 2 females).  As the pups are born, photos of the pups are posted on my website to view just clik on the posted tally info, it will take you directly to any photos. You may also go to the "Nursery" where there will be a link to the pup pics as well, on that page you will find the parents & grandparents photos.  Just remember when they are newborn they are wet so will look darker until they are fully dry. If you would like to see other litters that the mother has had in the past, go to "Our Gals" on the home page, you will then see all our females, clik on the mother of your puppy & it will take you into her specific webpage, on her page there will be links to all of her past puppies by the year they were born just clik on the year.  All our pages have a link on the top right to go back to the home page.

AFTER PUPS ARE BORN: Upon delivery of a pup, it is checked over thoroughly, then a color band is put on it.  I then fill out my paperwork - next to the noted color band I write the time the pup is born, its sex, weight, I make sure it is nursing ok, then I will take a picture and put it on the website.   After the delivery which I have usually been up at least 24-32 hours I will stay up for the next 2 days after they are born to make sure the mother does not lay on them accidentally.  Usually that only happens the first 2-3 days.  At this point I am rummy and have only slept when I can get someone else to watch over them for a few hours.  Once I get caught up on my sleep I will update the website and then I try to update the photos roughly every 7-10 days.

Our puppies are weighed daily some times more to make sure they are gaining adequate weight.  If a pup doesn’t gain adequately we take action – it may be just making sure every time we walk by that we put it on the mother all the way to tube feeding or off to the vet for a more thorough exam.  We want our pups happy & healthy; we also have a written health guarantee in our contract.

PICKING OUT OF PUPS:  After the pups’ eyes are open, owners will be called to come pick out their pup at which time I will note it on the website and that pup will be taken off the market. This usually happens at about 5 weeks, but some litters that go to “show” homes want them evaluated first. This is done from an outside professional at 8 weeks, and so owners will not be able to pick out their pups until after they are evaluated. Please ask or let me know ASAP, if you are interested in having the litter evaluated, you will be responsible for paying for the evaluation, and I will let all owners know they have to wait, once I set appointments for picking out of pups we will not accept evaluation requests. Once ready for choosing, I then go down the list & contact each person in order to schedule their appointments.  If I am not able to get a hold of someone then I wait 24 hours from the time I make the call for them to call back.  I will call again the next day, but if I am unable to contact someone, then I have to go on & schedule the rest of the appointments.  (If going on vacation etc. please let me know so I can work around your schedule) I try to set everyone up in order as best as possible.  But if someone does not get back to me then I have to assume they are no longer interested and they could potentially end up at the bottom of the list.  As I get a hold of each person if someone cannot view in their respective order due to a vacation or something similar,  then I have them come in before the others and give their choices by number (ie 1st pick red collar, 2nd pick Blue collar etc). I will then notify them once the other person(s) have chosen theirs, as to which one via their list they get.  Please note - when coming over and seeing the new babies we require you do not go around other dogs (other than your own fully vaccinated ones) or facilities/stores with dogs.  Unfortunately, some people go from kennel to kennel to pick out their new puppy and others decide to be good new owners and check out doggie day cares, new vet offices, dog parks etc. or pick up dog toys/crates at their local store that allow animals inside - Doing this the same day as they plan to come see/pick out their new puppy, the bad part is the puppies have no immunity other than what they get from their mothers until their first shot at 6 weeks, and places where dogs are could have disease & infections that can be carried back on hands, clothes, shoes etc. thus infecting one or all the puppies. Some of these things like parvo are very contagious & can be lethal.  Please wear freshly cleaned clothes, I will supply shoe guards or you can remove your shoes at the front door and I will require you to wash your hands to your elbows upon arrival, this is for the safety of your pup and everyone else’s pup.

Once you pick out your pup (via collar color) you will need to pay an additional $100. non-refundable deposit to hold that specific pup, decide if you want them micro-chipped ($25.00 extra, also if not sure and you want more info let me know and I can send it to you) which can be done before you pick them up & set up a pickup date & time.  I try and set up a “group pickup” date.  If that date does not work please let me know and I will set up an individual pickup date.  Both deposits go towards the purchase price, the micro-chip & sales tax in WA are extra fees on top of the purchase price.  The balance is due at the time the pup is picked up.  We will take checks for the deposits but ONLY cash or cashier checks for the final pickup balance.  Unfortunately we have had some bad apples that have given us bad checks and have caused the no check at pickup policy.  On the day of pick up expect about an hour to go over all the paperwork.   You will need to bring something to transport your puppy in or at a minimum a 2nd person to hold it while you drive.  Please also bring a large bottle for us to put some well water into for the first few days of the pups’ transition. Please also bring doggie poop bags, a couple of towels in case of accidents, and a wet wash cloth in a plastic bag is good in case someone gets the "accident" on them.  We do try not to feed them several hours before they leave but for longer trips there may be motion sickness & a need for scheduled potty breaks.  Please do not use rest areas or Parks as the pups have only had 1 shot at this point & do not have enough immunity built up yet.  Many bad things are transmitted via feces.  If your pup absolutely has to go potty, go to a fancy restaurant and use their lawn (please bag up any poop) typically fancy restaurants do not want dogs on their lawn & most people respect that fact, so it is safer for the pup,  you may get yelled at, but at that point better safe than sorry.  If you tell them "it just has to go" & they see it is a pup and you have a poop bag in hand to clean up, they will usually say just don't do it again.  If no one is there to yell, please do the proper thing and clean up.

GENERAL INFO:  Our pups are raised in the house with us, they are socialized with cats, my grandchildren, and normal household noises (music, vacuum cleaner etc).  When they are old enough and need more room to run around, we have a special puppy area that has a heated inside area with linoleum type flooring with a flip-flop door to the outside cement area.  The outside area is an enclosed, covered area with interactive toys on the floor & hanging down from the roof, there is also a dog crate they use for playing hide-n-seek and for sleeping.  When weather is nice there is an outside area for them to play in and also a regular yard area. The pups are secured inside at night and during bad weather.  We feed & clean our puppy areas & socialize with them on a daily basis.  Including playing in the grass areas, & in and around the lake weather permitting.

Our pups also come with a medical record, their first shots & wormings, we are no longer removing dew claws but if requested before birth, we can discuss and if needed have them removed. They can have a micro-chip implanted (additional fee) before they go home.  They come with a new matching collar & leash, a small amount of dog food, and lots of paperwork (AKC registration, copies of each parents medical certifications, pedigree info etc. also a copy of all info I have on grandparents great grandparents etc.) I typically have several generations of info on each of my breeding dogs.  Each pup will be bathed the day they go home and have their toes trimmed at least a couple times before they go home. Once our pups leave us we require a yearly medical questionnaire be filled out & that owners call us immediately if something happens medically with their pup.  We want to know of any medical issues that might affect our breeding program and that might also affect the pups’ siblings.  I will then contact my vet to learn more about the medical issue and find out if its siblings could also be affected, if so then a notice will go out to all the owners to have their dog checked.  This may not stop the issue but it may give a person advance warning to start preventative actions.

SELLING:  We require you contact us first, before you intend to sell or transfer your pup(s). We reserve the right to take back our pups/dogs first, but can work with you to re-home. Typically we will take back our dogs at any time but we are also mandated on how many animals we can have on our property & if we have or are expecting newborn puppies (which are un-vaccinated) we will not allow other dogs to come until AFTER the puppies are placed or have had their all their puppy shots (typically 8 weeks). As our puppies are typically pre-sold we cannot take a chance with the babies health especially when they have no immunity yet. This was also done for you when you got your puppy to protect its health.

If we give permission for the owner to re-home, we must be supplied with the name & address of the new owner and the new owner must be given all paperwork including the signed release of the AKC form and any micro-chip information.  We will always take any of our dogs back, but we prefer to be notified and given 30 days to help re-home the dog so it has less physical transfers in its life.  We try to have a waiting list of families that want adult dogs plus we have access to other breeders/clubs who have waiting lists and we can also advertise on my website.  It is much easier for potential owners to talk directly with the current owner so we prefer the dog stay with the current owners while we help find it a new home, but in urgent situations they can be brought here (see above info for limitations if we have newborn pups) if needed, if we have newborn pups and it is a dire situation, (owner death/incapacitation etc.) we can try and arrange another temp. home until we no longer have newborn pups.  If we do get a dog back and look to re-home it – our main goal is a good home for the dog not a profit - any funds we do get for the dog will be split 2/3 to the current owner and 1/3 to us as a  re-homing fee.
