HOW TO FIND THE PERCENTAGE OF A NUMBER
Follow these 3 simple steps to find any percentage of a number.
Step 1) Convert the percentage to a decimal by dividing by 100. Step 2) Multiply this decimal by the number you are finding the percentage of. Step 3) Check your units of measurement.
Example 1 Find 14% of $35. Step 1) 14 ? 100 = 0.14 Step 2) 0.14 x 35 = 4.9 Step 3) $4.90 Answer: $4.90
Example 2 Find 82% of 90 gallons. Step 1) 82 ? 100 = 0.82 Step 2) 0.82 x 90 = 73.8 Step 3) 73.8 gallons Answer: 73.8 gallons

To find 50%
halve it or divide by 2
To find 25%
divide by 4.
To find 75%
divide by 4 and multiply by 3
To find 10%
divide by 10
To find a multiple of 10% divide by 10 and multiply by the number of 10s.
To find 1%
divide by 100
