From The Rabbi¡¯s Desk

Rabbi Yisroel Edelman

I quote from a popular Jewish website:

in medicine, science, security, technology and

"Yom Ha'atzmaut, or Israel Independence Day

commemorates the establishment of the

modern state of Israel in 1948. In Israel,

Jewish people celebrate the day with

fireworks, barbecues, and public concerts.

Outside Israel, Jewish communities host

parties and gatherings to celebrate. Often, the

focus of these events is on Israeli culture,

everything from classic Israeli foods -hummus, falafel, schnitzel, and shawarma -- to

Israeli dance, Israeli music, and all things

Hebrew. People wear blue and white and wave

Israeli flags. You can celebrate Yom

Ha'atzmaut too by trying Israeli foods,

listening to music, and learning about Israel."

business and enjoy authentic Israeli food and music.

But that is all secondary to the essence of this special

day. This day must touch our souls because it

represents an opportunity to come closer to Hashem

and be inspired through the holiness of Eretz Yisrael

in a real and tangible way. Walking in the streets of

our ancestors is not about visiting the old homestead.

The longing of generations of our people ????????

??????? ????? ????? ???????is for the return of our

spiritual home and ultimately a world perfected with

the coming of Mashiach. May we appropriately

celebrate this day with an increase in Torah and

chessed and giving thanks to Hashem for His

abundant kindness in the past and continued

What is missing in this article? G-d, Torah, Emunah, generosity in the future. May this provide protection

Mesorah... Yom Ha¡¯atzmaut is so much more than just for Jews everywhere and bring a renewed enthusiasm

for the study of Torah and observance of Mitzvos in

the celebration of a modern Jewish state. Surely, we

are proud of Israel¡¯s accomplishments and innovations Israel and throughout the world. !???? ?? ??? ?????

In ¨C Shul Davening Guidelines

We have spent time and effort reviewing pertinent issues and bringing questions to Rabbinic and

Medical authorities to help determine the best practices to move forward in the conduct of our

davening in Shul. Any ideas we consider always have, and will continue to have, the safety of our

unique membership demographics foremost in our minds.

With these objectives always before us, the following protocols have been implemented. Highlights are

as follows:

6. We will continue masking at all times in YIDB. We will maintain our social distance seating

as it has been throughout the pandemic.

2. There will no longer be a registration requirement for members to attend shul.

3. However, members must bring CVE ID badges and vaccination cards to Shul.

4. There will continue to be random checking of photo ID¡¯s and vaccination cards.

5. If member has not been vaccinated, please advise Steven Schoenfeld at

sschoenfeld@ before coming to Shul.

1. We are now offering Aliyahs, including Maftir, and Kibudim (P¡¯sicha, Hagboh/Gelila, etc.).

7. Only those members who have completed a COVID -69 vaccination series and its waiting

period will be eligible for Aliyahs at this time.

8. Aliyahs and Kibudim will be assigned by the Gabai in advance.

9. Aliyah and Kibudim procedures will be outlined to those receiving them, in advance as well,

to make sure all comply with our safety protocols.

60. Shul attendees will continue not kissing the Sefer Torah either by lips, hands, or with Tzitzis.

Guest Protocols

We will welcome guests and/or family members to our Shul. To ensure our members¡¯ ongoing safety,

all guests will be required to do the following:

a. ALL guests must be preregistered to attend davening.

b. Members who plan to have guests must provide the name of one adult guest from each

visiting family, with their email address, to Steven Schoenfeld at

sschoenfeld@, or call 967 746 0299 with the information as early as

possible. There are no exceptions to this requirement.

c. If the member cannot provide this information for any reason, he or she may have their

guest contact Steven Schoenfeld directly at the e-mail address or phone number above.

Again, guests must be preregistered before admittance will be permitted.

d. There will continue to be random checking of photo ID¡¯s and vaccination cards

e. Children under the age of 60 will not be permitted in shul at this time.

It is our fervent hope that by following these protocols, we will continue to protect our members. In the

Zchus of our cooperative efforts may we see an end to this plague and a swift return to full normalcy.
