Lincoln Lion’s First Grade
Classical Reading Program
Dear Parents,
All students in the first grade are required to read a total of 20
books from the ‘First Grade Classical Reading List’.
At the end of the year awards assembly, children who
have met the requirements will be recognized.
Requirements:
12 written summaries
4 written book reports
+ 4 projects
20 total
Each child will be given a ‘Classical Reading List’ form. On the form,
please check off each book as your child does their report. Credit will
not be given for multiple reports on a single title, or for books which
are not on the ‘First Grade Classical Reading List’. At our school
library, our classical books are identified with an orange dot on the
book’s spine.
Please make sure your child completes all book reports as they are
due. Contact your child’s teacher if you have questions.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping your child to earn this
