Small scale laboratory tank design. Depuration tanks had dimensions of 1050mm (length) by 500mm (width) by 450mm (depth) with a working volume of 200 litres. Seawater was re-circulated lengthways through the tank at a rate of 400 litre/hour and sterilised by irradiation in a 15W UV steriliser (type 15/3p; UVAQ Ltd., Sudbury, UK). ................
