Course overview: In this class we will be focusing in areas of Botany, Cell Structure, Chemistry, Genetics, Physiology, and Zoology. There will be 3-4 tests and projects each nine weeks. These tests will be constructed based on objectives completed by the class. The students will have ample time to complete the projects during class time. Since Biology is a core class there will also be a midterm and an End of Course Exam. All students must take these tests, exempting is not allowed. This class will be very fast paced so be ready to work and learn a lot. Textbook – Glencoe Florida Biology $83.97 the book is also available online click on the online textbook link after you login. Grading policies: NO LATE OR PARTIAL CREDIT on outlines will be accepted. All other assignments must be turned in on their posted due date to receive full credit. If you have an excused absence make-up work must be completed with-in two days of the return (unless otherwise approved by the instructor). No partially completed assignments will be accepted. Only college ruled notebook paper will be accepted for assignments in this class. Variations of this will not be graded so be prompt with your purchase. Any college ruled notebook or binder will work for this class. All Directions, Rubrics, Study guides, Outline Assignments, and etc can be found and printed from Coach Crowder’s website

Grading Scale: A=90-100, B=80-89, C=70-79, D=60-69, F=0-59

Class Grades will be based on Total Points:

Classwork Assignments = 10 pts

Bellwork = 10 pts

Projects = 50 pts

Tests = 85-100 pts (dependent if a curve is awarded)

Class work will include Labs, Chapter outlines/Notes, worksheets, movie questions, etc…

Bell work will be completed at the start of class everyday. If you are absent it is your responsibility to get the entries from the instructor or another student.

Tests will be a mixture of multiple choice, true / false, matching, & measurement.

Projects will be based on the rubrics provided.

Class Rules:

1. Follow Directions the first time they are given.

2. Keep hands, feet, and other objects to yourself.

3. Raise your hand and wait for permission to speak.

4. Be in your seat working when the bell rings.

5. Be working from the beginning to the end of the period.

6. Bring all needed materials to class.

7. No Hats on In Class. No Texting in Class.

Consequences:

1st offense = Warning

2nd offense = Movement of Seat.

3rd offense = Lunch Detention.

4th offense = Lunch Detention and Parents Notified.

5th offense = Referral and student sent to the Dean.

*Lunch Detentions must be set-up with Teacher and completed with-in 7 days of the infraction. The student must report to room 118 before reporting to lunch to receive duties.

*Lincoln HS requests a $5.00 lab fee each semester to help with lab expenses (example: dissection specimens) this can be brought in by each student to the instructor
