It is the intent of the Board to designate the College President to solicit and accept grants and donations on behalf of the Board. In doing so, it is the intent of the Board to ensure that the College does not become dependent upon grant money to provide on-going instruction or services.

A. GENERAL. This procedure describes the actions to be taken in soliciting and accepting grants and donations.

B. PROCEDURE.

1. All College employees will seek and provide information regarding availability of grant applications and donation opportunities to the Director of Grants.

2. The Director of Grants or his/her designee will obtain the request for proposal (RFP) from the granting source.

3. Upon receipt, all grant requests (RFPs) will be reviewed by the Director of Grants and to determine the:

• Project’s relevancy to the mission of the institution;

• long term commitment to the project;

• project’s relation to other grant or institutional efforts; and,

• availability of resources to be provided by the College.

4. In making these determinations, the Director of Grants will communicate with the executive and administrative staff, as required.

5. Once reviewed, the Director of Grants will direct the preparation of the grant proposal. When prepared, the Director of Grants will review it, recommend it to the President for signature, and submit it to the funding source once signed.

6. Upon modification of grant award, the Director of Grants will place notice of grant receipt on the agenda for the Board of Trustees and notify the project director.

7. Copies of all follow up reports for grants will be filed with the office of the Director of Grants.

8. The Director of Grants will work cooperatively with the Director of the Foundation to accept donations on behalf of the institution.
