Steps t o your Professional Teaching Certificate:

1. Possessa Bachelor's degree in a field other than Education.

2. If you are not already employed by Brevard Public Schools, you must obtain security clearance (background check and

- fingerprinting) from the School Board Office o f District & School Security $61.00. You must also enter your information into

the Brevard Public Schools volunteer system (BIPS) which can be done a t any school or a t the School Board Office in Viera. See the attached flier.

- 3. Obtain a Statement of Status of Eligibility from the Florida Department of Education $56.00 for each subject requested. - (). Don't delay do this now, as it can take some time t o receive your Statement of

Status of Eligibility. 4. Completea BCC Admissions Application. Downloada t brevardcc.edu >ProspectiveStudents>Admissions& Records>Formsfor

Download>AdmissionsApplication or hard-copy available a t all campuses. ($30.00 BCC Application fee)*

5. Complete an PI Application (attached). 6. Complete "The Teaching Profession" questionnaire (attached).

7. Submit official transcripts from your Bachelor's Degree institution t o BCC Registrar, 1519 Clearhke Road, Cocoa, FL 32922. 8. Upon receipt of your Statement o f Status o f Eligibility from the DOE, make an appointment with the EPI Ombudsman (433-7617)

to map your course. Bring your completed BCC Application, EPI Application, Statement o f Status of Eligibility, and "The Teaching Profession" questionnaire with you.

9. Register for PI modules and pay BCC tuition ($67.75 per credit hour*). Total cost of all modules is $1422.75.

10. Satisfactorily complete the EPI modules, pass the three state exams, apply for your professional certificate, and become a

successful classroom teached
