Chair of OB/GYN Position Description

The University of South Florida (USF) Morsani College of Medicine Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, in partnership with Tampa General Hospital (TGH), seeks an outstanding physician-investigator for the position of Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The successful candidate will also hold the James M. Ingram Endowed Chair. In addition to serving clinical and educational missions, the chosen candidate will oversee and foster an environment of inquiry and collaboration, including expanding the extramurally-funded research program in reproductive science.

Tampa General Hospital is a 1,011-bed teaching hospital affiliated with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine. It is a private not-for-profit hospital and one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in Florida, serving a dozen counties with a population

over 4 million. In addition to being a level one-trauma center, TGH features the 82-bed Jennifer Leigh Muma NICU, a Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center designated by the State of Florida to deliver the highest level of medical care to premature and sick infants and to women with high-risk pregnancies. The USF/TGH Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology also participates in the Florida Perinatal Quality Collaborative, a statewide initiative to improve maternal and infant health outcomes in Florida. Over 6000 deliveries and over 1600 benign gynecologic surgeries (550 inpatients and 1059 outpatients) are performed annually at TGH by USF providers. The REI division performs over 400 IVF cycles annually. The gynecologic oncology service is based at both TGH and H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center, ranked number 8 by U.S. News and World Report among National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers. Last year our gynecologic oncologists performed over 700 surgeries at H. Lee Moffitt and 470 at Tampa General.

Position Summary: The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine is committed to delivering the highest quality and most compassionate patient care, training highly competent and caring clinicians and generating the most innovative research. The department provides the training for 22 residents in all aspects of obstetrics and gynecology including gynecologic ultrasound, family planning. In addition, there are ABOG-approved fellowships in Gynecologic

Oncology (3), Maternal-Fetal Medicine (3), Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery (3) and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (1). Its Research Division in Reproductive Science and Gynecologic Oncology has five Principle Investigators and occupies 3095 square foot of laboratory space. The Chair for the Department of Ob/Gyn will provide leadership that will result in strong operational and financial performance for the practice plan; solid research productivity,

as measured by clinical trial revenue and federally funded research grants; educational achievement, as measured by student clerkship scores and academic strength of graduate medical education (GME) trainee recruits; as well as collaboration and teamwork amongst department faculty. The position reports directly to the Dean of the Morsani College of Medicine; and for practice plan and service line development, to the Chief Clinical Officer of USF Health. The Chair, or his/her designee, will also serve as the Maternal-Child Health Clinical Service Line co-leader at TGH. This is an exciting opportunity for a physician executive with a commitment to excellence in research, patient care, and education.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

? The leader appointed as USF Health's next Chair of the Department of Ob/gyn will possess an M.D. or M.D./ Ph.D. with board certification in Ob/gyn.

? He/she will have a record of sustained accomplishments, demonstrated evidence of mentorship, leadership, and scholarship in Ob/gyn.

? He/she will have progressive experience in a complex academic medical center and relevant experience as a clinical leader.

? The ideal candidate must also possess, or be eligible for, a medical license in the State of Florida and should meet University criteria for appointment to the rank of Professor.

? Preference will be given to candidates with a solid track record of NIH funding.
