Military Family Employment Advocate (MFEA)2020-2021 Program Year Goals and Expectations:The essential goals of the Military Family Employment Advocate (MFEA) will be to provide services that will directly result in helping Spouses/Dependents of active-duty Military Members and activated Guard & Reservists secure employment in their desired career field; this includes career guidance and assessments, development of a basic employment plan, labor market education, resume preparation assistance, interview skills assistance, job search, job development, and placement assistance.Employment Readiness Assist Spouses & Dependents of active-duty Military Members who are job seekers (walk-ins and online registrants) with the following employment readiness services (as applicable):Register participants in Employ Florida (EF) and initiate Wagner-Peyser (WP) participation. Participant may complete the background wizard and upload a resume from home.101 Orientation - Provide a general overview/one-on-one orientation of CSOW services102 Assessment - Conduct initial needs assessment to identify career interest, employment or training needs using the MFEA Intake Form and assessment tools (Traitify, IBM Kenexa, TORQ) For Veterans, complete SBE Initial Intake, provide and document a 189 Priority of Service if an 089 service code hasn’t been auto-generated yet.For SBE Veterans, in addition to SBE Initial Intake, please connect Vet with a DVOP106 Provide Internet Job Search Support – Demonstrate how to use EmployFlorida to job search, enter resume, build cover letters & set up a Virtual Recruiter107 LMI - Educate participants on industries and occupations that are fast growing, with selected career field discuss local wage information by providing Labor Market Information (LMI) obtained from O*NET, EF or Career One-Stop. Data will support salary negotiation113 Job Search Plan - Develop a basic employment plan to assist participants in achieving employment goals114 Staff Assisted Job Search – Conduct job search for participant to find matches with participant’s skill set & preferences 115 Resume - Assist with resume creation and provide professional review using CSOW standards116 Other Services- After Action E-Mail – As a follow up to Initial Appointment, send e-mail listing topics discussed during appointment that require action135 Local Office Contact – Appointment with participant to discuss job search, resume, interviewing skills & local employment resources/opportunities154 Social Networking Workshop – Provide information regarding how to use social networking sites to search for employment & networking opportunities155 Interview Skills - Assist with interview readiness to include preparing for and/or conducting mock interviewsAssist with job fair preparation (Elevator speech, etc.)Coordinate and host employment readiness workshops biweekly as neededProvide additional resources to address employment barriers as applicableRefer participants to applicable workshops and job fairs as needed (104)PlacementsAssist participants in achieving employment goals and objectives identified during needs assessment and as established on the employment plan applying the following approach:Conduct quality job searches for participants on a regular/on-going basis and refer them to job orders matching their skillset using EF and any other job search boards (Indeed, Monster, AJC, Peoplefirst, USAJobs, etc.) (114). Referrals to job orders in EF must meet job requirements.Add participants to the Talent Pipeline Spreadsheet and update it with current referrals/statusEngage participants in self-assisted job search activitiesMaintain weekly contact with participants to obtain status on job search activities (136)Work closely with Business Services team to identify additional or reinforce existing employer referrals Successfully place a minimum of 60% of participants on caseload. (Note: Case-by-case exceptions may apply) Document placement information in EF in accordance with policy (See WP Monitoring Tool)Documentation and MonitoringDocument participant interactions in EF using corresponding service codes and case notes. Case notes must be thorough and accurately entered in Employ Florida in a timely manner. Specific information related to the case must be entered using the template as a guide.Scan signed documents and other supporting documents into ATLAS Ensure Talent Pipeline Spreadsheet is up-to-date on a daily basisAssist during peer monitoring and other activities as necessaryOutreachIncrease job seeker participation by reaching out to Military Spouses who inquire about employment via MFEA Facebook Page and other local Military Spouse social media sites. As assigned, represent CareerSource Okaloosa Walton & the Military Family Employment AdvocacyTeam at outreach events on military installations and local communities inviting them to receive CSOW services. Strive to find new avenues of outreach to Military Spouses & Dependents; coordinate efforts with MFEA Program anizationalActively participate in training and the implementation of new practices; be willing to change things that are not plete a minimum of 15 hours of continuing education credits annually.Other duties as assigned.Performance Review1 An annual Employee Evaluation will be conducted to review the status of Goals & Expectations set for the Program Year.4 quarterly Performance Discussions will be conducted to stay on track on Goals and Expectations and identify areas of improvement before the conclusion of the Program Year.This should not be construed to imply that these requirements are the exclusive standards of the position.
