Principal’s ReportMs. Porter welcomed everyone to the meeting and the new year.-We were at 175 students on campus now at 251 on campus.-We are brainstorming how to build more community with all of our students.-Staff kick ball game wearing masks looking to broadcast to show to thestudents-We want to get the morning announcements going again; currentlybrainstorm with Mr. Rowe on how to get this up and running-We are trying to find ways to help roomies (students in person) and homies(students learning from home) make better connections with each other-We will be doing school pictures 12-6pm Feb 22 (in-person) Feb 23 (virtual)They will be used to make a class picture, all payments online and photosmailed to homiesPrevious Meeting MinutesMinutes front the PTA General Membership Meeting from November 10, 2020 were presented for approval. Amanda Geus made a motion to approve the minutes and Shelly Denaro seconded the motion.DiscussionJenny’s Penguin Patch Holiday Store online fundraiser completed -final amount raised $174 -$1744 totals sales from studentsChipotle Family Night final amount raised $1005th Grade Shirts -last day to order this Friday, January 15-21 ordered so far-Would like to get more orders inTreasurer ReportPTA Treasurer Amanda Geus presented the treasurer report. Check Member Hub for a detailed report.Discussion Continued-Valentine’s Day - card fundraiser; student goodie bags from PTA distributed with February packets; special treat for teachers-Upcoming Fundraisers:-Hot Diggity Dogs Family Fundraiser - Saturday, January 30 in Dania-Carvel Scoop Night - Thursday, February 25 from 5-8pm in Sunrise-Sicilian Oven - Thursday, February 11 in Plantation-Read-A-Thon - more info to come-Possible Fundraisers: Kristy Kreme, Chipotle Family Night-Ongoing Fundraisers: Box Tops app; Amazon Smile: PTA FLORIDA CONGRESS SUNRISE (will post instructions); Spirit Shirts (now on sale 2 for $18 for all in stock shirts); PTA Memberships; Corporate Sponsorships-Member Hub: pay membership dues, purchase spirit and/or 5th grade shirts nobhillpta.memberhub.store-For info Nob Hill Website ReportPresented by Ms. TardieuKindergarten: Learning about winter, how to subtract, word families, rhyming words and meeting iReady goalsFirst Grade: Completed iReady diagnostics; learning about the contribution of different women in history, beginning to learn about the contributions African Americans have made in our countries; math: double-digit additionSecond Grade: ELA-main purpose; social studies-Colonial America; math-subtracting two-digit numbers with regrouping; this week reviewing current rules and introduce new procedures to accommodate students who are switching to in-person learningThird Grade: Math: practicing division, exploring its relationship to multiplication; completed a unit on fiction, including poetry; beginning a unit on informational texts learning about classifying plants and animals: explore plant structures and functions and learn about vertebrates and invertebrates; attended virtual field trip musical “Numbers Don’t Lie”; Materials Pickup Day on Thursday, January 21, from 2:15-3:00pm, south loop for virtual studentsFourth Grade: Completing iReady reading and math diagnostics this week (please have students keep their cameras on during test); ELA: learning text structure and how authors organize informational text, describe the overall structure of events, ideas, concepts, or information in a text or part of a text; Math: working on division and introduction to long division; there will be materials pick up day soonFifth Grade: Completing the iReady Diagnostics this week; ELA: finish Main Idea and Summarizing Multiple text, Historical and Scientific Text; Math: completed the first volume, finished dividing decimals, next unit is adding and subtracting fractions; Science: working on adaptations, next week is middle of year science assessment; please pick up 2nd volume if you have not done so already; last day to purchase class shirt will be this Friday on the PTA Member Hub store; second week of February, Science BSA Discussion ContinuedWith the Papa John’s Fundraiser monies, we discussed purchasing picnic tables: 8ft long, offering students/staff shaded place to sit.We voted to purchase 2 picnic tables at $680 each plus tax and shipping. Amanda Geus made a motion to approve the vote. Brittany Spince seconded the vote.
