USFSP is dedicated in fostering an active and vibrant community of citizen scholars who engage and improve their community and the world.? The programs offered by our LSO office are designed to give our students a competitive edge as they enter the work force, apply for scholarships, graduate schools, or to be active members in their local communities. ?LSO at USFSP helps students:Grow integrity, character and self-awareness.Identify core passions.Set positive examples.Foster collaborative relationships.Effectively lead in diverse contexts.Positively impact communities on the local, state, national and global levels.The Graduate Assistant will coordinate and provide oversight to campus organizations. They will work with in conjunction with university and community partners to develop civic engagement opportunities for students. The position will also involve creating, implementing, and assessing leadership programs and events. Supervisor:Coordinator, Leadership & Student OrganizationsGeneral Responsibilities: Assist the Coordinator to which the position reports Serve as a positive role model for students Promote involvement in leadership programs including student organizations and community service Attend staff meetings Meet regularly with the Coordinator Participate in developing office policies and procedures Assist with special projects when requestedSpecific Responsibilities for Leadership and Student Organizations Graduate Assistant: Assist in the development of student organization policies and proceduresAssist in the creation of student organization funding procedures and policies Attend all events related to leadership and civic engagement programs Organize leadership retreats and workshops for student organizationsCreate trainings for student organizationsAssist in supervising Student AssistantsAssist with the planning and implementation of leadership and civic engagement programs such as Leadership Lunch, Un-Bull-ievable Service trips, The Rocky’s Leadership Awards, Pete’s Auction, Get on Board Day, etc. Complete any special projects as requested by CoordinatorDesired Qualifications: Pursuing a degree in Higher Education/Student Personnel or similar program Excellent written and verbal communication skills Appreciation of human diversity and diverse ideas Knowledge of relevant technology Interpersonal skills Strong organizational skills Availability to work evening and weekend hours Knowledge of leadership development and/or training Experience with teaching, training, facilitating and/or leading groups and individuals For more information about the position please contact:Abigail Bradley-TylerCoordinator, Leadership & Student Organizationsawbradley@usf.edu ................
