Assistantships, College Teaching Fellowships, University Fellowships

ASSISTANTSHIPS are for nine months and are normally assured for a period of consecutive academic years, not including summers. Assistantships include a nine-hour tuition waiver plus a stipend for which the student works on the average of 13-20 hours per week. Ordinarily, assistantships are not awarded to new students in mid-year.

PLEASE REFER TO THE FSU GRADUATE SCHOOL WEBSITE FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT UNIVERSITY FELLOWSHIPS (). This award includes a $19,000 stipend and a twelve-hour/semester tuition waiver. A special application form is required. Please note: University Fellowship Applications will be available after November 1. They can be obtained by calling Graduate Studies at (850) 644-3500 or by calling the School of Theatre at (850) 644-7234. Please contact DR. MARY KAREN DAHL (mkdahl@admin.fsu.edu) in the School of Theatre if you plan to apply for a University Fellowship.

The School of Theatre must receive all application material for the University Fellowship by January 6, 2012.

( Undergraduate GPA minimum 3.0 and/or

( GRE minimum 1000 – All applicants must have taken the GRE within the last 5 years regardless of their GPA

( Statement of Purpose, which is about 250 words or less, describes the student’s interests, career goals, and reasons

for applying to a particular graduate program.

MA/MS and PhD ONLY

( Critical and/or scholarly writing sample, preferably on theatre, which should be a major term paper or for PhD

Students, preferably a copy of the MA Thesis. It is recommended that the applicant submit at least two different

writing samples.
