The PGA Golf Management Program at Florida State University is a major in which students can realize their dreams of becoming a class "A" golf professional with the Professional Golfers' Association (PGA) while obtaining a degree from one of the top hospitality schools in the country. Housed within the Dedman School of Hospitality, FSU's PGA Golf Management Program is one of only 20 accredited nationwide by the PGA.

FSU's PGA Golf Management Program allows students to acquire business and hospitality skills ranging from hospitality finance to human resource management. After four and a half years of intense coursework and PGA approved internships, students will be fully prepared to manage top clubs and resorts worldwide or follow other career paths of their choice within the golf and hospitality industries.

Required Courses for PGA Golf Management Majors

In addition to rigorous coursework, PGA Golf Management majors must satisfy a number of supplemental requirements, including the Player Ability Test (PAT),

16 months of internships and several PGA workshops. The curriculum is designed to meet high standards of achievement and specialized knowledge in hospitality careers and also to capture the basic functions, objectives and management tools executives need.

Internships

At FSU, PGA Golf Management majors must complete 16 months of internship experiences under the supervision of a golf professional and our PGA Golf Management internship director. These are scheduled in the summer; one internship must run at least six months. With each internship, the PGA Golf Management student experiences increased responsibilities in relation to their eventual role as a PGA professional. Students and their ad-

visors select each placement site and design a program to meet the needs of the individual student.

Facilities

The Dave Middleton Golf Complex and the Don Veller Seminole Golf Course are home to the PGA Golf Management Program. A 27,000-square-foot clubhouse, the Dave Middleton Golf Complex boasts private technologically advanced Wi-Fi classrooms, study and teaching labs, an internship library, a fully equipped club repair room, a pro shop, locker rooms and the Renegade Grill. The Don Veller Seminole Golf Course is a well-maintained, public, 18-hole facility operated by FSU; it serves as a working laboratory for students enrolled in the PGA Golf Management Program. Situated near campus, the course offers students a firsthand opportunity to experience the day-to-day operations of a

golf facility. A private practice range, which includes an indoor state-of-the-art learning center, is exclusively for use by our PGA Golf Management students and FSU's men and women's golf teams.

Admissions Requirements Admission to FSU is competitive, and students must meet all University admission requirements. Students must also present evidence of playing proficiency reflected in a handicap of 12 or lower from a site approved by the PGA Golf Management director, and pass the Player Ability Test administered by the PGA of America ().
