FM 23-35, 26 February 1953, is changed as follows:
78. Ammunition
(Superseded)
a. General. Ammunition for use in the revolver, Colt, caliber .38, Detective Special, is authorized by Department of the Army Supply Manual OKD 3 SNL T2.
b. Classification. The types of ammunition au thorized for use in the revolver, Colt, caliber .38, Detective Special, and their nomenclature are listed below:
(1) Cartridge, ball, revolver, caliber .38, Short Colt, 125 or 130 grain bullet.
(2) Cartridge, ball, revolver, caliber .38, spe cial, midrange, 146 grain bullet (wad-cut ter).
(3) Cartridge, ball, revolver, caliber .38, spe cial, midrange, 148 grain bullet, nickeled cartridge case (wad-cutter).
(4) Cartridge, ball, revolver, caliber .38, spe cial, 158 grain bullet.
(5) Cartridge, ball, revolver, caliber .38, spe cial, 158 grain bullet, steel jacket (copper-
plated) . (6) Cartridge, ball, revolver, caliber .38, spe
cial, 200 grain bullet, nickeled cartridge case (Super-Police). (7) Cartridge, ball, revolver, caliber .38, 200 grain coated bullet (Lubaloy), nickel plated cartridge case (Super-Police). (8) Cartridge, blank, revolver, caliber .38, special.

Unlimited time is permitted for slow fire in order
to permit proper explanation of the causes of errors
and indication of corresponding remedies. It is
intended to be the elementary phase of instruction
in the proper manipulation of the weapon and for
determining and correcting the personal errors of
