Southwest Florida Yachts Adds 37-Foot Trawler

To its Charter Fleet in N. Fort Myers

"Avocet" is a Great Harbour N-37 Twin-Engine Trawler with two cabins, a gourmet galley, and fuel-efficient zest to explore Southwest Florida's celebrated inland waters

NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. -- July 17, 2012 -- Southwest Florida Yachts has added a 37-foot, twin-engine fiberglass trawler to its charter fleet. Avocet, a Great Harbour N-37, features two cabins, a gourmet galley and a shallow-draft zest for exploring Southwest Florida's celebrated inland waterways.

"Like its wandering bird namesake, Avocet is the perfect little ship for wandering on the water," said Barb Hansen of Southwest Florida Yachts. "This little yacht will deliver oceans of fun for a family and friends." Hansen said first mates will fall in love with the sizeable Corian counter galley which also features a "wow" appliance for a vessel in this category -- a full-sized stainless refrigerator.

Indeed, extra lengths, widths and heights seem to go with the floating territory: Berths? Six, including a queen bed in the forward cabin, two double beds in the mid cabin, and a double and a single in the salon. Headroom? 6 feet, 6-inches. Engine room? Walk right in. Head? Stand up shower.

Two Yanmar 54-hp diesels deliver exceptionally meager fuel consumption, 2.2 gallons per hour even at a speedy cruising clip of 7.5 knots.

For comfort and relaxation, Avocet features air conditioning and heating, AM/FM Stereo with CD player matched to an Onkyo 600-watt home theatre system, and a 26-inch JBL color TV.

The skipper can employ an array of controls and instrumentation including depth sounder, GPS, autopilot, VHF radio, hour meters, including GPS and autopilot.

Avocet is one of nine power yachts from 32 to 50 feet in the Southwest Florida Yachts fleet. Fleet headquarters at Marinatown Marina in N. Fort Myers just off the Caloosahatchee River gives charters quick access to the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway along scenic mangrove island rookeries and relaxing ports of call on Sanibel, Captiva, Pine and Useppa Islands. Visitors have scored the barrier islands tops for their beaches, ambiance, friendliness, restaurants and scenery.

Manager Barb Hansen said Avocet is economical to operate and charters for only $3,273 for seven days in the summer and $4,090 in the winter. Avocet charters also qualify for free cruising days leading up to Southwest Florida Yachts thirtieth anniversary celebration in 2014. Summer season charters of three days or more earn two extra days of free cruising. Cruises of three days or more from Dec. 15 to April 30 earn one free day of cruising
