Pilots ? Small and Big

? We started our journey with a small Pilot ? AFSOC

? AFSOC leadership got involved; energized team ? Small enough to "brute force" the implementation ? Learned important lessons ? DoD updated/streamlined the Learning

Management System ? Developed more effective communications tools

? Initiated a "large" command Pilot -- AETC

? AETC leadership stepped up to the plate ? Larger scale was tougher as we thought ? more moving parts ? AFSOC test helped big time ? cleaned up the process and lines of

responsibility ? New Implementation process developed ? the "Texas Two-Step"

? Staff and "structure" first, then the rest

4

Schedule

? Built aggressive schedule to meet OUSD timeline including MAJCOMs, COCOMs, Guard and Reserve

? Everyone implemented by 30 June 2014

? Implementation Strategy

? Created repeatable process ("Checklist") ? Designed 90 day pre-implementation window

? Get started early ? Clean Unit Manning Document means clean LMS accounts ? Develop organization hierarchy ? LMS/approval structure ? Needed separate "Launch" to set up accounts

? Built "core curriculum" to help Users identify training history ? Built one-stop-shop Sharepoint site for info

UMD Clean-up determines success

? UMD used to assign correct FM Certification level and Learning Path in LMS

? Significant number of questionable records/mismatches

? Civilian Employees:

? "Questionable" Records: no name/no position number; pay grade/job series mismatch between UMD and DCPDS ? Bases need to make changes in the Manpower/Personnel Systems

? Military Personnel

? Must ensure FM Certification levels are correct
