Mission: Angelica Community Radio is organized for charitable, scientific, educational and entertainment purposes, more specifically to create and broadcast content that enriches the lives of people in our community by involving as many neighbors as possible.
Description: Angelica Community Radio is a non-commercial, all-volunteer organization located in Angelica, NY, licensed by the FCC to broadcast at 100 watts on 92.7 FM. The call letters are WRAQ-LP. The audio signal from the studio is streamed concurrently on the internet via . The reach of the FM signal varies due to terrain but includes Angelica, southern Belfast, Belmont, northern Bolivar, Friendship and parts of Scio and Wellsville; that is a reach of 10,000 to 12,000 people via the FM signal alone.
The station presents music and public affairs for listeners in the greater Allegany County area. All types of music are heard on WRAQ with a heavy emphasis on jazz, popular standards and modern folk (singer/songwriter).
WRAQ-LP operates 24 hours every day. Some of the programming on WRAQ-LP is acquired from producers around the country. However, much of our favorite programming originates in the WRAQ studio, on Main Street, Angelica, hosted live by Allegany County residents.
Expenses are modest but include recurring utility bills, ISP costs (internet service provider), web site hosting expenses and internet audio streaming fees. The cost of maintenance and replacement of equipment is low. The largest annual expenses for Angelica Community Radio are the license fees required for broadcasting copyrighted music. The station is licensed by ASCAP, BMI, SESAC and SoundExchange.
Revenue comes from donations, underwriters, memberships and fundraising. Angelica Community Radio has also sought and received grant funding. The station is a 501(c)(3) entity.
