This session will teach you how to create user-friendly data entry forms for viewing data in one or more tables or queries. Participants will learn how to: a) create forms with list boxes, graphics, hyperlinks to other database objects, and embedded subforms; b) store forms on the Windows desktop; c) change database startup options; d) set form properties; e) create reports that summarize data in tables and queries; f) create columnar reports with grouping and statistics; g) modify the sorting and grouping options; h) change the records source and other report properties; and i) insert hyperlinks and link a report to a form. Give your database the professional appearance it deserves! Differences between Access 2000 and 2003 will be discussed. Participants should be able to work with Access tables and basic queries.

This half-day session focuses on how various Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access) can share data. Participants will learn how to: a) embed an Excel chart in a Word document and PowerPoint slide; b) link an Excel spreadsheet to a Word document; c) determine the pros and cons of linking vs. embedding an object; and d) import Excel lists to create Access tables. You will use Access tables and Excel lists as data sources for Word’s Mail Merge projects. Office 2003 will be used. The session also discusses the considerations in determining the correct application strategy for a flat file or relational data analysis project. Adobe Photoshop Elements is the consumer version of the industry standard image editing program Photoshop. Despite this it has many useful features for manipulating scanned images and digital photographs and preparing them for use in materials such as presentations, brochures, newsletters and web pages. This session is an introduction to the basic features of the program. Practical exercises include: a) retouching and correcting images; b) merging and captioning; and c) preparing for print or the computer environment. We’ll be working with tools, layers and filters during this 8 hour (2 half-days) session.
