District Highlights ? Student Learning
? Increased Graduation Rate: HCPS graduation rate has increased to 79.1%, up 3percentage points from last year. Total number of HCPS students using concordant scores to obtain a standard diploma has increased by over 400 from the previous year.
? Academic Achievement: Seventy-nine seniors were recognized in 2015 for their outstanding academic achievement among U.S. high school students - 59 National Merit Finalists Scholars, 14 National Hispanic Scholars, and 6 National Achievement Scholars.
? Industry Certifications: More than 4,000 students earned Industry Certification making them more marketable to future employers.
? College Readiness: Through dual enrollment programs and Advanced Placement classes, families saved more than $10 million dollars in college credits.

District Highlights ? Student Learning
? Magnet School Excellence: In March 2016, 21 of our 33 magnet schools were recognized by the Magnet Schools of America as either a Magnet School of Excellence or a Magnet School of Distinction.
? Nationally Ranked High Schools: All of Hillsborough County's traditional public high schools were listed on the Washington Post's list of America's Most Challenging High Schools. Hillsborough High School was the highest rated in the Tampa Bay area, ranked 55th in the nation.
? Digital Learning: Over 8,000 laptops were deployed for classroom use and online instruction and 3,000 laptops deployed for 1:1 classrooms via Project Innovate.

District Highlights ? Talent Management
? New Hires: Annually hires approximately 1,000 college graduates to fill teaching positions.
? Teacher & Leadership Retention: Our most highly effective teachers and leaders are retained in the district at a rate of over 90%.
? Teacher of the Year Success: The Florida Department of Education and Macy's named district Teacher of the Year, Diane McKee, as Florida's 2015 Teacher of the Year.
? Developing Excellent Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Teachers: HCPS has joined a national network of partners with the overall goal of developing and training 100,000 excellent science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) teachers by 2021. HCPS is the only school district in Florida, and one of only seven districts across the nation, chosen to participate.

District Highlights ? Culture & Relationships
? Best Communities for Music Education: The National Association for Music Merchants\ Foundation has designated HCPS as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for the 12th year.
? Record Number of Mentoring Hours Demonstrated: 1,333,746 Mentor hours were calculated by measuring formalized mentor programs such as Million Women Mentors, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Take Stock, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, Best Buddies, The Y, Boys and Girls Club.
? Student Advocacy and Volunteerism on the Rise: Volunteer hours by the community reached 1,176,708 hours and in-kind donations exceeded $27,700,000.
? Focus on Stakeholder Communication and Engagement: On June 1, 2015 the district launched "Newsdesk", an online news site dedicated to highlighting stories and information relevant to students, families, employees, community and partners.

District Highlights ? Processes & Financials
? A Focus on Financial Stewardship: The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) awarded, for the 15th year, a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting to our District for its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.
? Employee Excellence: National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP) recognized Senior Procurement Officer of Maintenance Support, Mina M. Kaeding, CPPO, CPPB, PH.D., FCCM as the 2016 Professional Buyer of the Year at the District and National level.
? Upgraded Financial Status: One of the big three credit rating agencies in New York has recently revised the rating outlook for the School District's Certificate of Participation program. The rating moved from Negative to Stable. The sales tax and capital improvement bonds remain Stable.
