LETTER TO THE FOOD STAMP / FIP OFFICE
LETTER TO THE SNAP / RI WORKS OFFICE
FROM THE SCHOOL FOOD AUTHORITY
Dear_________________________________:
The receipt of Special Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) or RI Works automatically qualifies children for free school meals. The regulations for the SNAP and RI Works permit SNAP/RI Works offices to release eligibility information to administrators of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs to ensure that only eligible children receive meal benefits.
Enclosed is a listing of approved students who have been selected for verification. On the enclosed listing, please indicate if these students are currently participating in the SNAP Program and / or RI Works Program. If these students do not currently participate in SNAP or RI Works, please provide the household income documented in the household’s application for SNAP, RI Works, or Medicaid benefits. This information will be used only to confirm the applicant's eligibility for meal benefits.
Your return of the listing by (date)_____________ will be appreciated. A self-addressed return envelope is also enclosed for your convenience.
If you have any questions or need additional information, please contact (name)_____________________________ at (Phone number)____________________________.
Sincerely,
