Year One Signs for Classroom
Year One: Vocabulary across the Curriculum
Tier 1 words are simple, high frequency words that rarely require explicit instruction and are easily learned by students.
Tier 2 words are not encountered on a daily basis and may require explicit instruction. Acquisition is dependent upon variables such as the method/strategies used in vocabulary instruction and student readiness.
Tier 3 words are central to building knowledge and conceptual understanding within the discipline and should be integral to instruction of content. These words generally surface rarely in general vocabulary usage.

Root Review #1 - 5:
• re – back, again

• Create a few sentences to start a story:
Example:
Jessie frequently revisited his day during his dreams at night. Last night he was undone by his own misbehavior which automatically entered his dream as he tried to evade the day’s events in his dream. Check Requirements | Terms of Use | Privacy Policy | Contact Us

• Each group will now create a sentence using their root as many times as possible to add to the story. (Can be recorded on sentence strips and added to the opening for all to read.)
