If a comet is close enough to the sun (closer than Mars), it has a tail, caused by the evaporation of its surface due to the heat of the sun. The constant force of particles from the sun and the pressure of sunlight blow a comet’s tail away from the sun as the comet orbits. Eventually, a comet evaporates completely, leaving only bits of dust. ................
