ACTION REQUESTED Ensure all appropriate personnel are aware of and fully understand the following: o The availability of the SYNC Software Version 3.0 Update o The available SYNC 3 software update methods: USB download, or Service Technician install - Wi-Fi updates will be available in the near future o How to check the current SYNC 3 Software Version Ensure our SYNC 3 customers are aware of the value of SYNC 3's ability to update for added features and quality improvements
SUMMARY A software update is now available for SYNC 3 equipped Ford / Lincoln vehicles. The update will bring out-of-date SYNC 3 systems to the latest software level currently being used in new vehicle production. SYNC 3 vehicles dating back to 16MY are able to be updated.
The software update includes: The ability to run Waze for iOS in SYNC 3 AppLink ? Available this April Improved AppLink stability Updated voice commands o New prefixes include: "Take me to", "Get directions to", "Drive to", and "Navigate to" o "Place" is a newly added alias for "POI" and can be used in all commands o POI searches now default to "nearby" Additional navigation user interface improvements (if equipped) All the of the updates included in the previously announced update
This update is the third in a series of planned enhancements for SYNC 3. SYNC 3's ability to receive continuous quality improvements and added features builds significant value for our customers. If kept up-to-date, a customer will have a better SYNC 3 system when it's time to trade-in their vehicle than when the vehicle was initially purchased.
AVAILABLE SYNC 3 SOFTWARE UPDATE METHODS Customers are given a choice in the way they update the SYNC 3 software:
USB download from Owner. / Owner. Service technician installation Wi-Fi updates are currently not available and will be made available in the near future
Note: SYNC 3 software upgrade to support of Waze is not a warrantable repair per the Warranty and Policy Manual, Section 3, Warranty Coverages ? SYNC
HOW TO CHECK THE CURRENT SYNC 3 SOFTWARE VERSION To check the Software Version follow the below steps on the SYNC 3 touchscreen: Settings > General > About SYNC > the top line will show the current Software Version (SYNC 3, Software Version: X.X)
