EXHAUST SYSTEM APPEARANCE CHARACTERISTICS (NON-WARRANTABLE):

ROUSH uses a 409-stainless steel alloy to produce our exhaust system. This is a commonly used alloy in modern OEM

exhaust systems. 409SS is selected specifically for exhaust systems to combat oxidation and corrosion in harsh

environments (exposure to water, salt, road grime, engine exhaust by-products, etc.) while dealing with the extreme thermal

cycles of automotive exhaust systems. As exhaust systems are located beneath the vehicle, 409 is not considered an

appearance grade of stainless steel. As such, once exposed to the environment and multiple heating cycles, 409SS will

turn a gold, reddish-brown color and will also develop a light surface rust. It is important to note that this condition is

considered normal, does not adversely affect material function and is not warrantable. A bright polished finish can be

restored through the use of cleaning and scouring pads and/or polishing compounds, although this level of maintenance

would need to be done on an ongoing basis if this level of luster is desired. It is also important to note that areas around

welded joints will exhibit additional discoloration and localized corrosion due to their exposure to extreme heat during the

welding process. This is also considered normal and does not need to be cause for concern.
