Under PC Settings, locate ACCOUNTS and click on itAt the top center of the screen your account name and type will be listed. If it is a local account it will say so under your user name. If it is a Microsoft account an email address will be displayed. Connect a Microsoft Account on Your RTFrom the start menu (tile screen) type: PC SETTINGSClick on the PC SETTINGS option with the gear symbol next to it. Under PC Settings, locate ACCOUNTS and click on it.Click on the link: CONNECT TO A MICROSOFT ACCOUNT below your user name and type. If you have a Microsoft account type in your Microsoft account email and password. If you do not have a Microsoft account or need to create a new one, see “Creating a Microsoft Account for Your RT” start at step #5.Creating a Microsoft Account for Your RTFrom the start menu (tile screen) type: PC SETTINGSClick on the PC SETTINGS option with the gear symbol next to it. Under PC Settings, locate ACCOUNTS and click on it.Click on the link: CONNECT TO A MICROSOFT ACCOUNT below your user name and type. Click on the link: CREATE A NEW ACCOUNTFill in your first name and last nameCreate a new email formatted like this: ahs17.lastname.f@Start with “ahs”Then add your graduation year “17” followed by a periodThen add your last name followed by a periodFinally add your first initial and leave the default @Add a password that you will not forget, and reenter it to confirm it. (Must be at least 8 characters and contain at least two of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols.)Click NEXTSet your birthdate and gender(OPTIONAL) If you have a cell phone you may add it for security purposes. YOU MAY BE CHARGED FOR TEXT MESSAGES AND/OR CALLS DEPENDING ON YOUR PLAN. Only do this if you know it is OK for you to do so. Add your school email as the alternate email. School email addresses are formatted as follows: 17.lastname.f@Graduation year followed by a periodLast name followed by a periodFirst initial@Click NEXTEnter the security letters, they are not case sensitive. (If you can’t read it click NEW)Uncheck both check boxes.Click NEXTSelect a method to receive your verification code. Confirm the verification email address or phone number.Click NEXTRetrieve the code from your email or cell phone and enter itClick NEXTClick SWITCHAdding Network Resources, H: DRIVE and DropboxHold down the windows key and press RType in the following: \\hdrive\rt\runClick OK and wait. It may take up to a minute for the device to connect to the networkYou will then be prompted for a username and passwordUnder the password box, look at the domain if it says ASD5 then:Enter your computer account that you use on campus to login as your username. This will be first initial, last initial, student ID number. Ex.FL123456789Enter the password you use to login to the computers on campus. If you get it wrong too many times you will be locked out of your account. Under the password box, if it says anything different than ASD5 then:Enter ASD5\ followed by your computer account that you use on campus to login as your username. This will be first initial, last initial, student ID number. Ex. ASD5\FL123456789Enter the password you use to login to the computers on campus. If you get it wrong too many times you will be locked out of your account. Check the box that says REMEMBER MY CREDENTIALSClick OKYou can view the connected resources using file explorer under THIS PCSetting up the Printer on your RTPress the windows key + R keyIn the box that appears type: \\rtprint and click OKCheck the box that says REMEMBER MY CREDENTIALSYou will need to authenticate to connect to the print server, type your username as follows: asd5\FL123456789 (where FL123456789 is your normal computer login) and use your computer lab password. A new window will appear, double click FINDMEPRINT to install then network/id printer on campusOnce this action completes you will see a printer queue window, you can close all windows now.Printing from the RTClick print from the app or program you are using. Make sure FINDMEPRINT is the selected printer. (It should be set as your default printer if you have installed it)Print your documentLocate a networked printer (Lexmark), on the screen touch “ID NUMBER”Use the number pad and enter your full student ID number (9-digits)Touch NEXTPress the arrow to the rightHit the Touch PRINT RELEASETouch PRINT ALLForgotten Microsoft AccountIf you set up a microsoft account for your RT last year and you cannot remember what it is, try the following: add ahs in front of your school email addressreplace @ with @An example would be: ahs17.lastname.f@Use your password that you used last year with this account to log in. If this does not work you may need to reset your password. See the steps below.Resetting Microsoft Account PasswordOpen a browser, go to and login to your school email.In a new window or tab go to .Click on the can’t access your account? link.Select “I forgot my password”.Enter your microsoft account (ex: ahs17.lastname.f@)Enter the security image text and click next.If you have a valid microsoft account it will ask you how you want to verify your account. From last year you should have entered your school email as the alternate email. Select your school email from the options, re-type it and click next. Check your email for a message from microsoft with a verification code. Enter the codeSet a new passwordUse your microsoft account and new password to connect your microsoft account with your RT. Windows Won’t ActivateSometimes windows is unable to activate because the date and time is incorrect. To fix this go to the desktop and click on the time in the lower right hand corner. A window should appear, click ‘change date and time settings’. If a new window appears you may need to click the ‘change date and time settings’ again. Set the date and time to the correct date and time. Close the window and try to activate windows. If this does not work see the library or Mr. Mahon for assistance. ................
